न मयोदितपूर्वं वा अनृतं तदिमे विदुः । एकैकशः प्रतीच्छध्वं सहैवोत सुमध्यमाः ॥ १०-२२-११ ॥
I have never before spoken a lie, and these boys know it. Therefore, O slender-waisted girls, please come forward, either one by one or all together, and pick out your clothes. ॥ 10-22-11 ॥

मैंने पहले कभी झूठ नहीं बोला और ये बालक इसे जानते हैं। अतएव हे क्षीण कटिवाली बालाओ, या तो एक एक करके या फिर सभी मिलकर इधर आओ और अपने वस्त्र उठा ले जाओ। ॥ १०-२२-११ ॥

तस्य तत्क्ष्वेलितं दृष्ट्वा गोप्यः प्रेमपरिप्लुताः । व्रीडिताः प्रेक्ष्य चान्योन्यं जातहासा न निर्ययुः ॥ १०-२२-१२ ॥
Seeing how Kṛṣṇa was joking with them, the gopīs became fully immersed in love for Him, and as they glanced at each other they began to laugh and joke among themselves, even in their embarrassment. But still they did not come out of the water. ॥ 10-22-12 ॥

यह देखकर कि कृष्ण उनसे किस तरह ठिठोली कर रहे हैं, गोपियाँ उनके प्रेम में पूरी तरह निमग्न हो गईं और उलझन में होते हुए भी एक दूसरे की ओर देख-देखकर हँसने तथा परस्पर परिहास करने लगीं। लेकिन तो भी वे जल से बाहर नहीं आईं। ॥ १०-२२-१२ ॥

एवं ब्रुवति गोविन्दे नर्मणाऽऽक्षिप्तचेतसः । आकण्ठमग्नाः शीतोदे वेपमानास्तमब्रुवन् ॥ १०-२२-१३ ॥
As Śrī Govinda spoke to the gopīs in this way, His joking words completely captivated their minds. Submerged up to their necks in the cold water, they began to shiver. Thus they addressed Him as follows. ॥ 10-22-13 ॥

जब श्रीगोविन्द इस तरह बोले तो गोपियों के मन उनकी मजाकिया वाणी (परिहास) से पूरी तरह मुग्ध हो गये। वे ठंडे जल में गले तक धँसी रहकर काँपने लगीं। अत: वे उनसे इस तरह बोलीं। ॥ १०-२२-१३ ॥

मानयं भोः कृथास्त्वां तु नन्दगोपसुतं प्रियम् । जानीमोऽङ्ग व्रजश्लाघ्यं देहि वासांसि वेपिताः ॥ १०-२२-१४ ॥
[The gopīs said:] Dear Kṛṣṇa, don’t be unfair! We know that You are the respectable son of Nanda and that You are honored by everyone in Vraja. You are also very dear to us. Please give us back our clothes. We are shivering in the cold water. ॥ 10-22-14 ॥

[गोपियों ने कहा]: हे कृष्ण, अन्यायी मत बनो, हम जानती हैं कि तुम नन्द के माननीय पुत्र हो और व्रज का हर व्यक्ति तुम्हारा सम्मान करता है। हमें भी तुम अत्यन्त प्रिय हो। कृपा करके हमारे वस्त्र लौटा दो। हम ठंडे जल में काँप रही हैं। ॥ १०-२२-१४ ॥

श्यामसुन्दर ते दास्यः करवाम तवोदितम् । देहि वासांसि धर्मज्ञ नो चेद्राज्ञे ब्रुवामहे ॥ १०-२२-१५ ॥
O Śyāmasundara, we are Your maidservants and must do whatever You say. But give us back our clothing. You know what the religious principles are, and if You don’t give us our clothes we will have to tell the king. Please! ॥ 10-22-15 ॥

हे श्यामसुन्दर, हम तुम्हारी दासियाँ हैं और तुम जो भी कहोगे करेंगी। किन्तु हमारे वस्त्र हमें लौटा दो। तुम धार्मिक नियमों के ज्ञाता हो और तुम यदि हमें हमारे वस्त्र नहीं दोगे, तो हम राजा से कह देंगी। मान जाओ। ॥ १०-२२-१५ ॥
