उषस्युत्थाय गोत्रैः स्वैरन्योन्याबद्धबाहवः । कृष्णमुच्चैर्जगुर्यान्त्यः कालिन्द्यां स्नातुमन्वहम् ।। १०-२२-६ ।।

sanskrit

Each day they rose at dawn. Calling out to one another by name, they all held hands and loudly sang the glories of Kṛṣṇa while going to the Kālindī to take their bath. ।। 10-22-6 ।।

english translation

प्रतिदिन वे बड़े तडक़े उठतीं। एक-दूसरे का नाम ले लेकर वे सब हाथ पकडक़र स्नान के लिए कालिन्दी जाते हुए कृष्ण की महिमा का जोर जोर से गायन करतीं। ।। १०-२२-६ ।।

नद्यां कदाचिदागत्य तीरे निक्षिप्य पूर्ववत् । वासांसि कृष्णं गायन्त्यो विजह्रुः सलिले मुदा ।। १०-२२-७ ।।

sanskrit

One day they came to the riverbank and, putting aside their clothing as they had done before, happily played in the water while singing the glories of Kṛṣṇa. ।। 10-22-7 ।।

english translation

एक दिन वे नदी के तट पर आईं और पहले की भाँति अपने वस्त्र उतारकर जल में क्रीड़ा करने लगीं और कृष्ण के यश का गान करने लगीं। ।। १०-२२-७ ।।

भगवांस्तदभिप्रेत्य कृष्णो योगेश्वरेश्वरः । वयस्यैरावृतस्तत्र गतस्तत्कर्मसिद्धये ।। १०-२२-८ ।।

sanskrit

Lord Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead and master of all masters of mystic yoga, was aware of what the gopīs were doing, and thus He went there surrounded by His young companions to award the gopīs the perfection of their endeavor. ।। 10-22-8 ।।

english translation

योगेश्वरों के भी ईश्वर भगवान् कृष्ण इस बात से अवगत थे कि गोपियाँ क्या कर रही हैं अतएव वे अपने समवयस्क संगियों के साथ गोपियों को उनकी साधना का फल देने गये। ।। १०-२२-८ ।।

तासां वासांस्युपादाय नीपमारुह्य सत्वरः । हसद्भिः प्रहसन् बालैः परिहासमुवाच ह ।। १०-२२-९ ।।

sanskrit

Taking the girls’ garments, He quickly climbed to the top of a kadamba tree. Then, as He laughed loudly and His companions also laughed, He addressed the girls jokingly. ।। 10-22-9 ।।

english translation

लड़कियों के वस्त्र उठाकर वे तेजी से कदम्ब वृक्ष की चोटी पर चढ़ गये। तत्पश्चात् जब वे जोर से हँसे तो उनके साथी भी हँस पड़े और उन्होंने उन लड़कियों से ठिठोली करते हुए कहा। ।। १०-२२-९ ।।

अत्रागत्याबलाः कामं स्वं स्वं वासः प्रगृह्यताम् । सत्यं ब्रवाणि नो नर्म यद्यूयं व्रतकर्शिताः ।। १०-२२-१० ।।

sanskrit

[Lord Kṛṣṇa said:] My dear girls, you may each come here as you wish and take back your garments. I’m telling you the truth and am not joking with you, since I see you’re fatigued from executing austere vows. ।। 10-22-10 ।।

english translation

[भगवान् कृष्ण ने कहा]: हे लड़कियो, तुम चाहो तो एक एक करके यहाँ आओ और अपने वस्त्र वापस ले जाओ। मैं तुम लोगों से सच कह रहा हूँ। मैं मजाक नहीं कर रहा हूँ क्योंकि मैं देख रहा हूँ कि तुम लोग तपस्यापूर्ण व्रत करने से थक गई हो। ।। १०-२२-१० ।।

atrAgatyAbalAH kAmaM svaM svaM vAsaH pragRhyatAm | satyaM bravANi no narma yadyUyaM vratakarzitAH || 10-22-10 ||
