समेत्य गावोऽधो वत्सान् वत्सवत्योऽप्यपाययन् । गिलन्त्य इव चाङ्गानि लिहन्त्यः स्वौधसं पयः ॥ १०-१३-३१ ॥
The cows had given birth to new calves, but while coming down from Govardhana Hill, the cows, because of increased affection for the older calves, allowed the older calves to drink milk from their milk bags and then began licking the calves’ bodies in anxiety, as if wanting to swallow them. ॥ 10-13-31 ॥

गौवों ने नये बछड़ों को जन्म दिया था किन्तु गोवर्धन पर्वत से नीचे आते हुए, अपने पुराने बछड़ों के लिए अतीव स्नेह के कारण इन्हीं बछड़ों को अपने थन का दूध पीने दिया। वे चिन्तित होकर उनका शरीर चाटने लगीं मानो उन्हें निगल जाना चाहती हों। ॥ १०-१३-३१ ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptगोपास्तद्रोधनायासमौघ्यलज्जोरुमन्युना । दुर्गाध्वकृच्छ्रतोऽभ्येत्य गोवत्सैर्ददृशुः सुतान् ॥ १०-१३-३२ ॥
The cowherd men, having been unable to check the cows from going to their calves, felt simultaneously ashamed and angry. They crossed the rough road with great difficulty, but when they came down and saw their own sons, they were overwhelmed by great affection. ॥ 10-13-32 ॥
english translation
गौवों को उनके बछड़ों के पास जाने से रोकने में असमर्थ ग्वाले लज्जित होने के साथ साथ क्रुद्ध भी हुए। उन्होंने बड़ी कठिनाई से दुर्गम मार्ग पार किया किन्तु जब वे नीचे आये और अपने अपने पुत्रों को देखा तो वे अत्यधिक स्नेह से अभिभूत हो गये। ॥ १०-१३-३२ ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptतदीक्षणोत्प्रेमरसाप्लुताशया जातानुरागा गतमन्यवोऽर्भकान् । उदुह्य दोर्भिः परिरभ्य मूर्धनि घ्राणैरवापुः परमां मुदं ते ॥ १०-१३-३३ ॥
At that time, all the thoughts of the cowherd men merged in the mellow of paternal love, which was aroused by the sight of their sons. Experiencing a great attraction, their anger completely disappearing, they lifted their sons, embraced them in their arms and enjoyed the highest pleasure by smelling their sons’ heads. ॥ 10-13-33 ॥

उस समय ग्वालों के सारे विचार अपने अपने पुत्रों को देखने से उत्पन्न वात्सल्य-प्रेम रस में विलीन हो गये। अत्यधिक आकर्षण का अनुभव करने से उनका क्रोध छू-मन्तर हो गया। उन्होंने अपने पुत्रों को उठाकर बाँहों में भर कर आलिंगन किया और उनके सिरों को सूँघ कर सर्वोच्च आनन्द प्राप्त किया। ॥ १०-१३-३३ ॥

tadIkSaNotpremarasAplutAzayA jAtAnurAgA gatamanyavo'rbhakAn । uduhya dorbhiH parirabhya mUrdhani ghrANairavApuH paramAM mudaM te ॥ 10-13-33 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः प्रवयसो गोपास्तोकाश्लेषसुनिर्वृताः । कृच्छ्राच्छनैरपगतास्तदनुस्मृत्युदश्रवः ॥ १०-१३-३४ ॥
Thereafter the elderly cowherd men, having obtained great feeling from embracing their sons, gradually and with great difficulty and reluctance ceased embracing them and returned to the forest. But as the men remembered their sons, tears began to roll down from their eyes. ॥ 10-13-34 ॥

तत्पश्चात् प्रौढ़ ग्वाले अपने पुत्रों के आलिंगन से अत्यन्त तुष्ट होकर बड़ी कठिनाई और अनिच्छा से उनका आलिंगन धीरे धीरे छोड़ कर जंगल लौट आये। किन्तु जब उन्हें अपने पुत्रों का स्मरण हुआ तो उनकी आँखों से आँसू लुढक़ आये। ॥ १०-१३-३४ ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptव्रजस्य रामः प्रेमर्धेर्वीक्ष्यौत्कण्ठ्यमनुक्षणम् । मुक्तस्तनेष्वपत्येष्वप्यहेतुविदचिन्तयत् ॥ १०-१३-३५ ॥
Because of an increase of affection, the cows had constant attachment even to those calves that were grown up and had stopped sucking milk from their mothers. When Baladeva saw this attachment, He was unable to understand the reason for it, and thus He began to consider as follows. ॥ 10-13-35 ॥

स्नेहाधिक्य के कारण गौवों को उन बछड़ों से भी निरन्तर अनुराग था, जो बड़े होने के कारण उनका दूध पीना छोड़ चुके थे। जब बलदेव ने यह अनुराग देखा तो इसका कारण उनकी समझ में नहीं आया अत: वे इस प्रकार सोचने लगे। ॥ १०-१३-३५ ॥
