ततो मे बुद्धिरुत्पन्ना किन्नाम गगने मम । ईदृशो विघ्न उत्पन्नो रूपं यत्र न दृश्यते ॥ ५-५८-३६
''Then, the thought arose in me: "How I wonder has such a hindrance arose in my journey, although no concrete configuration is being seen here?" ॥ 5-58-36॥

tato me buddhirutpannA kinnAma gagane mama । IdRzo vighna utpanno rUpaM yatra na dRzyate ॥ 5-58-36
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअधोभागेन मे दृष्टिः शोचता पातिता मया । ततोऽद्राक्षमहं भीमां राक्षसीं सलिलेशयाम् ॥ ५-५८-३७
''Thinking so I looked down into the water and there I saw a terrific she-demon. ॥ 5-58-37॥

adhobhAgena me dRSTiH zocatA pAtitA mayA । tato'drAkSamahaM bhImAM rAkSasIM salilezayAm ॥ 5-58-37
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रहस्य च महानादमुक्तोऽहं भीमया तया । अवस्थितमसम्भ्रान्तमिदं वाक्यमशोभनम् ॥ ५-५८-३८
''She was frightening and laughed in loud voice without any hesitation. Steadfast she uttered these ominous words to me : . - ॥ 5-58-38॥

prahasya ca mahAnAdamukto'haM bhImayA tayA । avasthitamasambhrAntamidaM vAkyamazobhanam ॥ 5-58-38
hk transliteration by Sanscriptक्वासि गन्ता महाकाय क्षुधिताया ममेप्सितः । भक्षः प्रीणय मे देहं चिरमाहारवर्जितम् ॥ ५-५८-३९
- ''O huge monkey where are you going? I am hungry since long. I am going without food and must eat you. Make me satisfied''. ॥ 5-58-39॥

kvAsi gantA mahAkAya kSudhitAyA mamepsitaH । bhakSaH prINaya me dehaM ciramAhAravarjitam ॥ 5-58-39
hk transliteration by Sanscriptबाढमित्येव तां वाणीं प्रत्यगृह्णामहं ततः । अस्यप्रमाणादधिकं तस्याः कायमपूरयम् ॥ ५-५८-४०
