तस्याश्च महतीं गुप्तिं सागरं च निरीक्ष्य सः । रावणं च रिपुं घोरं चिन्तयामास वानरः ॥ ५-२-२६
That vanara (Hanuman) examined the high security of Lanka and looked at the ocean. He thought of the form of Ravana, a formidable enemy ॥ 5-2-26॥

tasyAzca mahatIM guptiM sAgaraM ca nirIkSya saH । rAvaNaM ca ripuM ghoraM cintayAmAsa vAnaraH ॥ 5-2-26
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआगत्यापीह हरयो भविष्यन्ति निरर्थकाः । न हि युद्धेन वै लङ्का शक्या जेतुं सुरैरपि ॥ ५-२-२७
- 'It is not possible for monkeys to come here and even if they do, it is no use. Lanka is invincible even to the gods in war. ॥ 5-2-27॥
english translation
AgatyApIha harayo bhaviSyanti nirarthakAH । na hi yuddhena vai laGkA zakyA jetuM surairapi ॥ 5-2-27
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइमां तु विषमां दुर्गां लङ्कां रावणपालिताम् । प्राप्यापि स महाबाहुः किं करिष्यति राघवः ॥ ५-२-२८
'What will Raghava (Rama) the mighty armed hero do even after reaching this formidable city of Lanka ruled by Ravana? ॥ 5-2-28॥
english translation
imAM tu viSamAM durgAM laGkAM rAvaNapAlitAm । prApyApi sa mahAbAhuH kiM kariSyati rAghavaH ॥ 5-2-28
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअवकाशो नसान्त्वस्य राक्षसेष्वभिगम्यते । न दानस्य न भेदस्य नैव युद्धस्य दृश्यते ॥ ५-२-२९
'There is no scope for reconciliation with the demons. It is not possible to win over them with gifts. They cannot be divided by dissension. There is no scope for war. ॥ 5-2-29॥
english translation
avakAzo nasAntvasya rAkSaseSvabhigamyate । na dAnasya na bhedasya naiva yuddhasya dRzyate ॥ 5-2-29
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचतुर्णामेव हि गतिर्वानराणां महात्मनाम् । वालिपुत्रस्य नीलस्य मम राज्ञश्च धीमतः ॥ ५-२-३०
'Only four great monkeys can have access to this place. They are Angada the son of Vali, Nila, Sugriva, the wise king of monkeys and myself. ॥ 5-2-30॥

caturNAmeva hi gatirvAnarANAM mahAtmanAm । vAliputrasya nIlasya mama rAjJazca dhImataH ॥ 5-2-30
