तस्याश्च महतीं गुप्तिं सागरं च निरीक्ष्य सः | रावणं च रिपुं घोरं चिन्तयामास वानरः || ५-२-२६

That vanara (Hanuman) examined the high security of Lanka and looked at the ocean. He thought of the form of Ravana, a formidable enemy : - [5-2-26]

tasyAzca mahatIM guptiM sAgaraM ca nirIkSya saH | rAvaNaM ca ripuM ghoraM cintayAmAsa vAnaraH || 5-2-26

आगत्यापीह हरयो भविष्यन्ति निरर्थकाः | न हि युद्धेन वै लङ्का शक्या जेतुं सुरैरपि || ५-२-२७

- 'It is not possible for monkeys to come here and even if they do, it is no use. Lanka is invincible even to the gods in war. [5-2-27]

AgatyApIha harayo bhaviSyanti nirarthakAH | na hi yuddhena vai laGkA zakyA jetuM surairapi || 5-2-27

अवकाशो नसान्त्वस्य राक्षसेष्वभिगम्यते | न दानस्य न भेदस्य नैव युद्धस्य दृश्यते || ५-२-२९

'There is no scope for reconciliation with the demons. It is not possible to win over them with gifts. They cannot be divided by dissension. There is no scope for war. [5-2-29]

avakAzo nasAntvasya rAkSaseSvabhigamyate | na dAnasya na bhedasya naiva yuddhasya dRzyate || 5-2-29

'Only four great monkeys can have access to this place. They are Angada the son of Vali, Nila, Sugriva, the wise king of monkeys and myself. [5-2-30]
