ततः कमुदषण्डाभो निर्मलं निर्मलोदयः । प्रजगाम नभश्चन्द्रो हंसो नीलमिवोदकम् ॥ ५-१७- १
Then the Moon shining like a bed of lilies rose stainless, ascended the clear sky and looked like a swan swimming through blue water. ॥ 5-17-1॥
english translation
tataH kamudaSaNDAbho nirmalaM nirmalodayaH । prajagAma nabhazcandro haMso nIlamivodakam ॥ 5-17- 1
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसाचिव्यमिव कुर्वन् स प्रभया निर्मलप्रभः । चन्द्रमा रश्मिभिश्शीतैस्सिषेवे पवनात्मजम् ॥ ५-१७-२
The Moon shed clear light as if with his brightness and his cool rays he wished to refresh the son of the Wind-god. ॥ 5-17-2॥
english translation
sAcivyamiva kurvan sa prabhayA nirmalaprabhaH । candramA razmibhizzItaissiSeve pavanAtmajam ॥ 5-17-2
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस ददर्श ततः सीतां पूर्णचन्द्रनिभाननाम् । शोकभारैरिव न्यस्तां भारैर्नावमिवाम्भसि ॥ ५-१७-३
Then he saw Sita whose face shone like the fullmoon. But she was as though sinking under the burden of sorrow, like a boat with heavy load sinking in water. ॥ 5-17-3॥
english translation
sa dadarza tataH sItAM pUrNacandranibhAnanAm । zokabhArairiva nyastAM bhArairnAvamivAmbhasi ॥ 5-17-3
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदिदृक्षमाणो वैदेहीं हनुमान्मारुतात्मजः । स ददर्शाविदूरस्था राक्षसीर्घोरदर्शनाः ॥ ५-१७-४
While Hanuman was eager to observe Sita he saw many she-demons in ugly appearance close by her. ॥ 5-17-4॥

didRkSamANo vaidehIM hanumAnmArutAtmajaH । sa dadarzAvidUrasthA rAkSasIrghoradarzanAH ॥ 5-17-4
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएकाक्षीमेककर्णां च कर्णप्रावरणां तथा । अकर्णां शङ्कुकर्णां च मस्तकोच्छ्वासनासिकाम् ॥ ५-१७-५
One of them was one-eyed, another with a single ear, a third had ears covering the body, yet another had pointed (spikelike) ears, one was breathing through the nose on the head - ॥ 5-17-5॥

ekAkSImekakarNAM ca karNaprAvaraNAM tathA । akarNAM zaGkukarNAM ca mastakocchvAsanAsikAm ॥ 5-17-5
