त्वं हि देववरिष्ठस्य मारुतस्य महात्मनः । पुत्रस्तस्यैव वेगेन सदृशः कपिकुञ्जर ॥ ५-१-१२१
'O foremost among the vanaras you are the son of the high-souled Wind-god's, preeminent among the gods, you are also equal to him in speed. ॥ 5-1-121॥
english translation
tvaM hi devavariSThasya mArutasya mahAtmanaH । putrastasyaiva vegena sadRzaH kapikuJjara ॥ 5-1-121
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपूजिते त्वयि धर्मज्ञ पूजां प्राप्नोति मारुतः । तस्मात्त्वं पूजनीयो मे शृणु चाप्यत्र कारणम् ॥ ५-१-१२२
'O knower of righteousness to worship you is to honour the Windgod. Therefore you are worthy of worship for me. I will tell you the reason. Listen. ॥ 5-1-122॥
english translation
pUjite tvayi dharmajJa pUjAM prApnoti mArutaH । tasmAttvaM pUjanIyo me zRNu cApyatra kAraNam ॥ 5-1-122
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपूर्वं कृतयुगे तात पर्वताः पक्षिणोऽभवन् । ते हि जग्मुर्दिशः सर्वा गरुडानिलवेगिनः ॥ ५-१-१२३
'Formerly in Kritayuga, O dear, mountains were endowed with wings. They used to move speedily in all directions like Garuda and the Wind-god. ॥ 5-1-123॥
english translation
pUrvaM kRtayuge tAta parvatAH pakSiNo'bhavan । te hi jagmurdizaH sarvA garuDAnilaveginaH ॥ 5-1-123
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस्तेषु प्रयातेषु देवसङ्घा: महर्षिभिः । भूतानि च भयं जग्मुस्तेषां पतनशङ्कया ॥ ५-१-१२४
When they moved about, even hosts of sages, gods and creatures panicked for fear of falling down (and destroying all worlds). ॥ 5-1-124॥

tatasteSu prayAteSu devasaGghA: maharSibhiH । bhUtAni ca bhayaM jagmusteSAM patanazaGkayA ॥ 5-1-124
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः क्रुद्धः सहस्राक्षः पर्वतानां शतक्रतुः । पक्षान् चिच्छेद वज्रेण तत्र तत्र सहस्रशः ॥ ५-१-१२५
'Provoked at this, the thousandeyed Indra who had performed a hundred sacrifices cut off the wings of mountains into a thousands pieces with his thunderbolt. ॥ 5-1-125॥
