विरोधं जनयामास तयोः सत्यवतां वरः । विरोधे तु महद्युद्धमभवद्रोमहर्षणम् ॥ १-७५-१६
- the best adherer of truthfulness, started to create adversity among those two, ( Shiva and Vishnu ). Then owing to their animosity, a ferocious battle took place causing one's hair to stand on end . - ॥ 1-75-16॥
english translation
virodhaM janayAmAsa tayoH satyavatAM varaH । virodhe tu mahadyuddhamabhavadromaharSaNam ॥ 1-75-16
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशितिकण्ठस्य विष्णोश्च परस्परजयैषिणोः । तदा तु जृम्भितं शैवं धनुर्भीमपराक्रमम् ॥ १-७५-१७
- between the blue throated Shiva and Vishnu, each desirous of victory over the other. Then, Shiva's bow of dreadful prowess was stretched - ॥ 1-75-17॥
english translation
zitikaNThasya viSNozca parasparajayaiSiNoH । tadA tu jRmbhitaM zaivaM dhanurbhImaparAkramam ॥ 1-75-17
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहुंकारेण महादेवः स्तम्भितोऽथ त्रिलोचनः । देवैस्तदा समागम्य सर्षिसन्घैः सचारणैः ॥ १-७५-१८
- the three-eyed Mahadeva was struck motionless by the 'Humkara' produced by Vishnu. Then hosts of sages, charanas and the gods assembled . - ॥ 1-75-18॥
english translation
huMkAreNa mahAdevaH stambhito'tha trilocanaH । devaistadA samAgamya sarSisanghaiH sacAraNaiH ॥ 1-75-18
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयाचितौ प्रशमं तत्र जग्मतुस्तौ सुरोत्तमौ । जृम्भितं तद्धनुर्दृष्ट्वा शैवं विष्णुपराक्रमैः ॥ १-७५-१९
- there and beseeched both of them, the preeminent among the gods ( Shiva and Vishnu ) to keep peace. Now that the bow of Shiva was made inert by the prowess of Vishnu - ॥ 1-75-19॥

yAcitau prazamaM tatra jagmatustau surottamau । jRmbhitaM taddhanurdRSTvA zaivaM viSNuparAkramaiH ॥ 1-75-19
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअधिकं मेनिरे विष्णुं देवाः सर्षिगणास्तदा । धनू रुद्रस्तु संक्रुद्धो विदेहेषु महायशाः ॥ १-७५-२०
- hosts of sages and gods acknowledged Vishnu as superior. The glorious Shiva, enraged at this, his bow, in Videha king . - ॥ 1-75-20॥

adhikaM menire viSNuM devAH sarSigaNAstadA । dhanU rudrastu saMkruddho videheSu mahAyazAH ॥ 1-75-20
