स गत्वा निलयं राजा श्राद्धं कृत्वा विधानतः | प्रभाते काल्यमुत्थाय चक्रे गोदानमुत्तमम् || १-७२-२१
King Dasharatha on going to his visitatorial-palace, procedurally undertaken the tributary rituals. Next day at dawn at appropriate time he carried out the donation of cows ( the initiatory rituals of marriages, in a grand way ). [1-72-21]
Their ( donated cows) horns were plaited with gold, they were capable of abundance of milk and were accompanied by calves. With them were given away bellmetal vessels for keeping milk. This way great among men (king Dasaratha), donated four hundred thousand of cows. [1-72-23]
Affectionate towards his children, the delight of the Raghus (king Dasaratha), in the name of his sons's Godaan ( donation of cows ) donated cows and innumerable valuables to the brahmins. [1-72-24]
Surrounded with his sons, came after completing the Godaan-karma ( cows - donation ceremony ), the serene king ( Dasharatha ) looked like shining Prajapati ( Brahma ) surrrounded by the lokapaal-s ( the guardians of the world ). [1-72-25]
