चित्यमाल्यानुलेपश्च आयसाभरणोऽभवत् । तं दृष्ट्वा मंत्रिणः सर्वे त्यक्त्वा चण्डालरूपिणम् ॥ १-५८-११

His body was besmeared with crematory ashes and on his robes lay funeral wreath. He had on him ornaments made of iron. On seeing him in the form of a chandala, all deserted him including all of his ministers -॥ 1-58-11॥

cityamAlyAnulepazca AyasAbharaNo'bhavat । taM dRSTvA maMtriNaH sarve tyaktvA caNDAlarUpiNam ॥ 1-58-11

प्राद्रवन् सहिता राम पौरा येऽस्यानुगामिनः । एको हि राजा काकुत्स्थ जगाम परमात्मवान् ॥ १-५८-१२

- inhabitants of the city and his followers, oh ! Rama they all fled away. Oh ! Descendant of Kakustha, the resolutely self-assured king went, wandering alone . - ॥ 1-58-12॥

prAdravan sahitA rAma paurA ye'syAnugAminaH । eko hi rAjA kAkutstha jagAma paramAtmavAn ॥ 1-58-12

दह्यमानो दिवारात्रं विश्वामित्रं तपोधनम् । विश्वामित्रस्तु तं दृष्ट्वा राजानं विफलीकृतम् ॥१-५८-१३

- burning with distress night and day, to Vishvaamitra who was rich in asceticism. But sage Vishvaamitra, on seeing at that mien of the king which was rendered to that of a precluded . - ॥ 1-58-13॥

dahyamAno divArAtraM vizvAmitraM tapodhanam । vizvAmitrastu taM dRSTvA rAjAnaM viphalIkRtam ॥1-58-13

चण्डालरूपिणं राम मुनिः कारुण्यमागतः । कारुण्यात्स महातेजा वाक्यं परमधार्मिकः ॥ १-५८-१४

- chandala ( from kingship and for officiating rituals ), oh ! Rama, he was touched with pity. The great-resplendent sage and highly generous Vishvaamitra firstly said to . - ॥ 1-58-14॥

caNDAlarUpiNaM rAma muniH kAruNyamAgataH । kAruNyAtsa mahAtejA vAkyaM paramadhArmikaH ॥ 1-58-14

इदं जगाद भद्रं ते राजानं घोरदर्शनम् । किमागमनकार्यं ते राजपुत्र महाबल ॥ १-५८-१५

- that king who was in a terrible aspect 'let safety betide you,' and then spoke on this sentence to him. 'What is the purpose of your visit, oh ! great-mighty prince ( Trishanku ) - ॥ 1-58-15॥
