चित्रामष्टापदाकारां वरनारीगणैर्युताम् । सर्वरत्नसमाकीर्णां विमानगृहशोभिताम् ॥ १-५-१६
With groups of men and women and adorned with sevenstoried palaces, it looked wonderful like a board where the game of ashtapada, is played. It was rich in all kinds of gems. ॥ 1-5-16॥
english translation
citrAmaSTApadAkArAM varanArIgaNairyutAm । sarvaratnasamAkIrNAM vimAnagRhazobhitAm ॥ 1-5-16
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगृहगाढामविच्छिद्रां समभूमौ निवेशिताम् । शालितण्डुलसम्पूर्णामिक्षुकाण्डरसोदकाम् ॥१-५-१७
Its dwellings were constructed on levelled ground with no space left unutilised. It was abundantly stocked with fine-grained rice and water which tasted sweet like sugarcane juice. ॥ 1-5-17॥

gRhagADhAmavicchidrAM samabhUmau nivezitAm । zAlitaNDulasampUrNAmikSukANDarasodakAm ॥1-5-17
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदुन्दुभीभिर्मृदङ्गैश्च वीणाभिः पणवैस्तथा । नादितां भृशमत्यर्थं पृथिव्यां तामनुत्तमाम् ॥१-५-१८
That city is sounding with the drumbeats of great drums, and with musical rhythm instruments like mridanga, cymbals, and with string instruments like Veena etc., and on earth she is uniquely the best city. ॥ 1-5-18॥

dundubhIbhirmRdaGgaizca vINAbhiH paNavaistathA । nAditAM bhRzamatyarthaM pRthivyAM tAmanuttamAm ॥1-5-18
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविमानमिव सिद्धानां तपसाधिगतं दिवि । सुनिवेशितवेश्मान्तां नरोत्तमसमावृताम् ॥१-५-१९
Like an aerial car acquired by the siddhas in heaven through their austerities, the palaces were perfectly constructed in rows and inhabited by the noblest of men. ॥ 1-5-19॥

vimAnamiva siddhAnAM tapasAdhigataM divi । sunivezitavezmAntAM narottamasamAvRtAm ॥1-5-19
hk transliteration by Sanscriptये च बाणैर्न विध्यन्ति विविक्तमपरापरम् । शब्दवेध्यं च विततं लयुहस्ता विशारदाः ॥ १-५-२०
They the skilful archers of that Ayodhya will not kill a lone one with their arrows, one that does not have either a predecessor or a successor in his family, a fleeing one, or by listening to the sound of the target, as is done in sonic-archery, and their skills, acumen and handiness are thus benevolent. ॥ 1-5-20॥

ye ca bANairna vidhyanti viviktamaparAparam । zabdavedhyaM ca vitataM layuhastA vizAradAH ॥ 1-5-20
