The Lavana Rasa (saline taste) forms three combinations, while the Katuka Rasa (pungent taste) forms two. The Tikta Rasa (bitter taste) combines only with Kasaya Rasa (astringent taste). Thus, there are fifteen combinations taken two at a time.
