उष्णाभितप्तस्य जलप्रवेशाद्दूरेक्षणात् स्वप्नविपर्ययाच्च । प्रसक्तसंरोदनकोपशोकक्लेशाभिघातादतिमैथुनाच्च ॥२६॥

Due to excessive heat, entry of water, long periods of looking at something, disturbed sleep, attachment, weeping, anger, grief, strain, and excessive sexual activity, these factors contribute to the manifestation of the condition.

शुक्तारनालाम्लकुलत्थमाषनिषेवणाद्वेगविनिग्रहाच्च । स्वेदादथो धूमनिषेवणाच्च छर्देर्विघाताद्वमनातियोगात् । बाष्पग्रहात् सूक्ष्मनिरीक्षणाच्च नेत्रे विकारान् जनयन्ति दोषाः ॥२७॥

Consuming sour substances like oyster shells, kulattha (horse gram), and mash (lentils), as well as neglecting to control anger, sweating, exposure to smoke, vomiting, excessive coughing, inhaling vapors, and performing fine or excessive eye movements—all of these factors cause disorders in the eyes, generating imbalances in the doshas.

Disorders of the eyes caused by Vata are eleven in number, by Pitta twelve, by Kapha thirteen, and by Rakta sixteen. In total, there are twenty-five types of eye disorders caused by various doshas.

तथा बाह्यौ पुनर्द्वौ च रोगाः षट्सप्ततिः स्मृताः । हताधिमन्थो निमिषो दृष्टिर्गम्भीरिका च या ॥२९॥

Similarly, there are two external disorders, making a total of seventy-six eye disorders. These include the conditions of "Hataadhimantha" (injury-related) and "Nimisho" (a condition related to blinking), as well as "Dristi" (vision-related disorders) and "Gambheerika" (deep or serious eye conditions).

यच्च वातहतं वर्त्म न ते सिध्यन्ति वातजाः । याप्योऽथ तन्मयः काचः साध्याः स्युःसान्यमारुताः ॥३०॥

The disorders caused by Vata (wind) that affect the eye, particularly those related to the eye-pathway, do not get cured by Vata-based treatments. However, if the treatment is focused on a different approach or method, those that are specifically caused by Vata (wind) can be cured, provided that the appropriate treatment for these conditions is applied.
