श्रीशुक उवाच इति ते क्ष्वेलितैस्तस्या आश्वस्तमनसोऽसुराः । जहसुर्भावगम्भीरं ददुश्चामृतभाजनम् ।। ८-९-११ ।।

sanskrit

Śrī Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: After the demons heard the words of Mohinī-mūrti, who had spoken as if jokingly, they were all very confident. They laughed with gravity, and ultimately they delivered the container of nectar into Her hands. ।‌। 8-9-11 ।।

english translation

श्रीशुकदेव गोस्वामी ने आगे कहा : मोहिनी-मूर्ति के परिहासपूर्ण शब्द सुनकर सारे असुर अत्यधिक आश्वस्त हुए। वे गम्भीर रूप से हँस पड़े और अन्तत: उन्होंने वह अमृत घट उसके हाथों में थमा दिया। ।। ८-९-११ ।।

ततो गृहीत्वामृतभाजनं हरिर्बभाष ईषत्स्मितशोभया गिरा । यद्यभ्युपेतं क्व च साध्वसाधु वा कृतं मया वो विभजे सुधामिमाम् ।‌। ८-९-१२ ।।

sanskrit

Thereafter, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, having taken possession of the container of nectar, smiled slightly and spoke in attractive words. She said: My dear demons, if you accept whatever I may do, whether honest or dishonest, then I can take responsibility for dividing the nectar among you. ।‌। 8-9-12 ।।

english translation

तत्पश्चात् अमृत घट को अपने हाथ में लेकर भगवान् थोड़ा मुस्काये और फिर आकर्षक शब्दों में बोले। उस मोहिनी-मूर्ति ने कहा : मेरे प्रिय असुरो! मैं जो कुछ भी करूँ, चाहे वह खरा हो या खोटा, यदि तुम उसे स्वीकार करो तब मैं इस अमृत को तुम लोगों में बाँटने का उत्तरदायित्व ले सकती हूँ। ।‌। ८-९-१२ ।।

इत्यभिव्याहृतं तस्या आकर्ण्यासुरपुङ्गवाः । अप्रमाणविदस्तस्यास्तत्तथेत्यन्वमंसत ।‌। ८-९-१३ ।।

sanskrit

The chiefs of the demons were not very expert in deciding things. Upon hearing the sweet words of Mohinī-mūrti, they immediately assented. “Yes,” they answered. “What You have said is all right.” Thus the demons agreed to accept Her decision. ।‌। 8-9-13 ।।

english translation

असुरों के प्रधान निर्णय लेने में अधिक पटु नहीं थे। अतएव मोहिनी मूर्ति के मधुर शब्दों को सुनकर उन्होंने तुरन्त हामी भर दी और कहा “हाँ, आपने जो कहा है, वह बिल्कुल ठीक है।” इस तरह असुर उसका निर्णय स्वीकार करने के लिए राजी हो गए। ।‌। ८-९-१३ ।।

अथोपोष्य कृतस्नाना हुत्वा च हविषानलम् । दत्त्वा गोविप्रभूतेभ्यः कृतस्वस्त्ययना द्विजैः ।‌। ८-९-१४ ।।

sanskrit

The demigods and demons then observed a fast. After bathing, they offered clarified butter and oblations into the fire and gave charity to the cows and to the brāhmaṇas and members of the other orders of society, namely the kṣatriyas, vaiśyas and śūdras, who were all rewarded as they deserved. Thereafter, the demigods and demons performed ritualistic ceremonies under the directions of the brāhmaṇas. ।‌। 8-9-14 ।।

english translation

तब असुरों तथा देवताओं ने उपवास किया। स्नान करने के बाद उन्होंने अग्नि में घी की आहुतियाँ डाली और गायों, ब्राह्मणों तथा समाज के अन्य वर्णों—क्षत्रियों, वैश्यों तथा शूद्रों— को उनकी पात्रता के अनुसार दान दिया। तत्पश्चात् असुरों तथा देवों ने ब्राह्मणों के निर्देशानुसार अनुष्ठान सम्पन्न किये। ।‌। ८-९-१४ ।।

यथोपजोषं वासांसि परिधायाहतानि ते । कुशेषु प्राविशन् सर्वे प्रागग्रेष्वभिभूषिताः ।‌। ८-९-१५ ।।

sanskrit

Then they dressed themselves with new garments according to their own choice, decorated their bodies with ornaments, and sat facing east on seats made of kuśa grass. ।‌। 8-9-15 ।।

english translation

तब अपनी रुचि के अनुसार नये वस्त्र धारण किये, आभूषणों से अपने- अपने शरीरों को अलंकृत किया और वे पूर्व-दिशा की ओर मुख करके कुशासनों पर बैठ गये। ।‌। ८-९-१५ ।।
