अमृतोत्पादने यत्नः क्रियतामविलम्बितम् । यस्य पीतस्य वै जन्तुर्मृत्युग्रस्तोऽमरो भवेत् ।‌। ८-६-२१ ।।

sanskrit

Immediately endeavor to produce nectar, which a person who is about to die may drink to become immortal. ।‌। 8-6-21 ।।

english translation

तुरन्त ही अमृत उत्पन्न करने का प्रयत्न करो जिसे पीकर मरणासन्न व्यक्ति अमर हो जाये। ।‌। ८-६-२१ ।।

hindi translation

amRtotpAdane yatnaH kriyatAmavilambitam | yasya pItasya vai janturmRtyugrasto'maro bhavet |‌| 8-6-21 ||

क्षिप्त्वा क्षीरोदधौ सर्वा वीरुत्तृणलतौषधीः । मन्थानं मन्दरं कृत्वा नेत्रं कृत्वा तु वासुकिम् ।‌। ८-६-२२ ।।

sanskrit

O demigods, cast into the Ocean of Milk all kinds of vegetables, grass, creepers and drugs. Then, with My help, making Mandara Mountain the churning rod and Vāsuki the rope for churning, ।‌। 8-6-22 ।।

english translation

हे देवताओ! क्षीरसागर में सभी प्रकार की वनस्पतियाँ, तृण, लताएँ तथा औषधियाँ डाल दो। तब मेरी सहायता से मन्दर पर्वत को मथानी तथा वासुकि को मथने की रस्सी बनाकर ।‌। ८-६-२२ ।।

सहायेन मया देवा निर्मन्थध्वमतन्द्रिताः । क्लेशभाजो भविष्यन्ति दैत्या यूयं फलग्रहाः ।‌। ८-६-२३ ।।

sanskrit

Churn the Ocean of Milk with undiverted attention. Thus the demons will be engaged in labor, but you, the demigods, will gain the actual result, the nectar produced from the ocean. ।‌। 8-6-23 ।।

english translation

अविचल चित्त से क्षीरसागर का मन्थन करो। इस तरह से दैत्यगण श्रम कार्य में लग जायेंगे, किन्तु तुम देवताओं को वास्तविक फल—समुद्र से उत्पन्न अमृत—प्राप्त होगा। ।‌। ८-६-२३ ।।

sahAyena mayA devA nirmanthadhvamatandritAH | klezabhAjo bhaviSyanti daityA yUyaM phalagrahAH |‌| 8-6-23 ||

यूयं तदनुमोदध्वं यदिच्छन्त्यसुराः सुराः । न संरम्भेण सिध्यन्ति सर्वेऽर्थाः सान्त्वया यथा ।‌। ८-६-२४ ।।

sanskrit

My dear demigods, with patience and peace everything can be done, but if one is agitated by anger, the goal is not achieved. Therefore, whatever the demons ask, agree to their proposal. ।‌। 8-6-25 ।।

english translation

हे देवताओ! धैर्य तथा शान्ति से हर कार्य सम्पन्न किया जा सकता है, किन्तु यदि कोई क्रोध से क्षुब्ध रहे तो लक्ष्य की प्राप्ति नहीं हो पाती। अतएव असुरगण जो भी माँगें उनके प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार कर लो। ।‌। ८-६-२४ ।।

yUyaM tadanumodadhvaM yadicchantyasurAH surAH | na saMrambheNa sidhyanti sarve'rthAH sAntvayA yathA |‌| 8-6-24 ||

न भेतव्यं कालकूटाद्विषाज्जलधिसम्भवात् । लोभः कार्यो न वो जातु रोषः कामस्तु वस्तुषु ।‌। ८-६-२५ ।।

sanskrit

A poison known as kālakūṭa will be generated from the Ocean of Milk, but you should not fear it. And when various products are churned from the ocean, you should not be greedy for them or anxious to obtain them, nor should you be angry. ।‌। 8-6-25 ।।

english translation

क्षीरसागर से कालकूट नामक विष उत्पन्न होगा, किन्तु तुम्हें उससे डरना नहीं है और जब समुद्र के मन्थन से विविध उत्पाद प्राप्त हों तो तुम्हें उनको प्राप्त करने के लिए न तो लालच करना होगा, न ही उत्सुक होना होगा, और न ही क्रुद्ध होना होगा। ।‌। ८-६-२५ ।।

na bhetavyaM kAlakUTAdviSAjjaladhisambhavAt | lobhaH kAryo na vo jAtu roSaH kAmastu vastuSu |‌| 8-6-25 ||
