पुंसोऽयं संसृतेर्हेतुरसन्तोषोऽर्थकामयोः । यदृच्छयोपपन्नेन सन्तोषो मुक्तये स्मृतः ।। ८-१९-२५ ।।

sanskrit

Material existence causes discontent in regard to fulfilling one’s lusty desires and achieving more and more money. This is the cause for the continuation of material life, which is full of repeated birth and death. But one who is satisfied by that which is obtained by destiny is fit for liberation from this material existence. ।। 8-19-25 ।।

english translation

भौतिक जीवन कामेच्छा की पूर्ति एवं अधिक धन पाने की इच्छा में असन्तोष उत्पन्न करता है। बारम्बार जन्म तथा मृत्यु से पूर्ण भौतिक जीवन के बने रहने का यही कारण है। किन्तु प्रारब्ध से जो कुछ प्राप्त होता है उसी से सन्तुष्ट रहने वाला मनुष्य इस भौतिक जगत से मुक्ति पाने के योग्य है। ।। ८-१९-२५ ।।
