स तन्निकेतं परिमृश्य शून्यमपश्यमानः कुपितो ननाद । क्ष्मां द्यां दिशः खं विवरान् समुद्रान् विष्णुं विचिन्वन् न ददर्श वीरः ॥ ८-१९-११ ॥
Upon seeing that the residence of Lord Viṣṇu was vacant, Hiraṇyakaśipu began searching for Lord Viṣṇu everywhere. Angry at not seeing Him, Hiraṇyakaśipu screamed loudly and searched the entire universe, including the surface of the earth, the higher planetary systems, all directions and all the caves and oceans. But Hiraṇyakaśipu, the greatest hero, did not see Viṣṇu anywhere. ॥ 8-19-11 ॥

भगवान् विष्णु के निवासस्थान को रिक्त देखकर हिरण्यकशिपु ने सर्वत्र उन की खोज करनी शुरू की। उन्हें न पाने के कारण क्रुद्ध होकर हिरण्यकशिपु ने जोर से गर्जना की और फिर सारे ब्रह्माण्ड, पृथ्वी, स्वर्गलोक, सारी दिशाओं तथा सारी गुफाओं एवं समुद्रों में उन्हें खोजना शुरू किया। किन्तु महान् वीर विष्णु को कहीं नहीं देख पाया। ॥ ८-१९-११ ॥

अपश्यन्निति होवाच मयान्विष्टमिदं जगत् । भ्रातृहा मे गतो नूनं यतो नावर्तते पुमान् ॥ ८-१९-१२ ॥
Unable to see Him, Hiraṇyakaśipu said, “I have searched the entire universe, but I could not find Viṣṇu, who has killed my brother. Therefore, He must certainly have gone to that place from which no one returns. [In other words, He must now be dead.]” ॥ 8-19-12 ॥

उन्हें न देखकर हिरण्यकशिपु ने कहा : मैंने सारा ब्रह्माण्ड छान मारा, किन्तु अपने भाई के हत्यारे विष्णु को मैं कहीं नहीं पा सका। अतएव वह अवश्य ही ऐसी जगह चला गया होगा जहाँ से कोई भी लौट नहीं सकता (अर्थात् वह अब मर गया होगा)। ॥ ८-१९-१२ ॥

वैरानुबन्ध एतावानामृत्योरिह देहिनाम् । अज्ञानप्रभवो मन्युरहम्मानोपबृंहितः ॥ ८-१९-१३ ॥
Hiraṇyakaśipu’s anger against Lord Viṣṇu persisted until his death. Other people in the bodily concept of life maintain anger only because of false ego and the great influence of ignorance. ॥ 8-19-13 ॥
english translation
भगवान् विष्णु के प्रति हिरण्यकशिपु का क्रोध उसकी मृत्यु तक बना रहा। देहात्मबुद्धि वाले अन्य लोग केवल मिथ्या अहंकार तथा अज्ञान के प्रबल प्रभाव के कारण क्रोध बनाये रखते हैं। ॥ ८-१९-१३ ॥

पिता प्रह्लादपुत्रस्ते तद्विद्वान् द्विजवत्सलः । स्वमायुर्द्विजलिङ्गेभ्यो देवेभ्योऽदात्स याचितः ॥ ८-१९-१४ ॥
Your father, Virocana, the son of Mahārāja Prahlāda, was very affectionate toward brāhmaṇas. Although he knew very well that it was the demigods who had come to him in the dress of brāhmaṇas, at their request he delivered to them the duration of his life. ॥ 8-19-14 ॥

तुम्हारे पिता विरोचन, जो महाराज प्रह्लाद के पुत्र थे, ब्राह्मणों के प्रति अत्यन्त स्नेहिल थे। यद्यपि वे भलीभान्ति जानते थे कि ब्राह्मणों का वेश धारण करके देवतागण उनके समक्ष आये थे, किन्तु उनके मांगने पर उन्होंने उन्हें अपनी आयु दे डाली। ॥ ८-१९-१४ ॥

भवानाचरितान् धर्मानास्थितो गृहमेधिभिः । ब्राह्मणैः पूर्वजैः शूरैरन्यैश्चोद्दामकीर्तिभिः ॥ ८-१९-१५ ॥
You also have observed the principles followed by great personalities who are householder brāhmaṇas, by your forefathers and by great heroes who are extremely famous for their exalted activities. ॥ 8-19-15 ॥

तुमने भी गृहस्थ ब्राह्मणों, अपने पुरखों तथा महान् कार्यों के लिए सुविख्यात शूरवीरों जैसे महान् पुरुषों के सिद्धान्तों का पालन किया है। ॥ ८-१९-१५ ॥
