क इह नु वेद बतावरजन्मलयोऽग्रसरं यत उदगादृषिर्यमनु देवगणा उभये । तर्हि न सन्न चासदुभयं न च कालजवः किमपि न तत्र शास्त्रमवकृष्य शयीत यदा ॥ १०-८७-२४ ॥
Everyone in this world has recently been born and will soon die. So how can anyone here know Him who existed prior to everything else and who gave rise to the first learned sage, Brahmā, and all subsequent demigods, both lesser and greater? When He lies down and withdraws everything within Himself, nothing else remains — no gross or subtle matter or bodies composed of these, no force of time or revealed scripture. ॥ 10-87-24 ॥

इस दुनिया में हर कोई हाल ही में पैदा हुआ है और जल्द ही मर जाएगा। तो यहाँ कोई भी उसे कैसे जान सकता है जो हर चीज़ से पहले अस्तित्व में था और जिसने पहले विद्वान ऋषि, ब्रह्मा और बाद के सभी देवताओं, छोटे और बड़े दोनों को जन्म दिया? जब वह लेट जाता है और सब कुछ अपने भीतर समेट लेता है, तो कुछ भी नहीं बचता - कोई स्थूल या सूक्ष्म पदार्थ या इनसे बना शरीर, कोई समय की शक्ति या प्रकट शास्त्र नहीं। ॥ १०-८७-२४ ॥
