गोप्यो मुकुन्दविगमे विरहातुरा याः आशासताशिष ऋता मधुपुर्यभूवन् । सम्पश्यतां पुरुषभूषणगात्रलक्ष्मीं हित्वेतरान् नु भजतश्चकमेऽयनं श्रीः ।। १०-४२-२४ ।।

At the time of Mukunda’s [Kṛṣṇa’s] departure from Vṛndāvana, the gopīs had foretold that the residents of Mathurā would enjoy many benedictions, and now the gopīs’ predictions were coming true, for those residents were gazing upon the beauty of Kṛṣṇa, the jewel among men. Indeed, the goddess of fortune desired the shelter of that beauty so much that she abandoned many other men, although they worshiped her. ।। 10-42-24 ।।

english translation

वृन्दावन से मुकुन्द (कृष्ण) के विदा होते समय गोपियों ने भविष्यवाणी की थी कि मथुरावासी अनेक वरों का भोग करेंगे और अब उन गोपियों की भविष्यवाणी सत्य उतर रही थी क्योंकि मथुरा के वासी पुरुष-रत्न कृष्ण के सौन्दर्य को एकटक देख रहे थे। निस्सन्देह लक्ष्मीजी उस सौन्दर्य का आश्रय इतना चाहती थीं कि उन्होंने अनेक अन्य लोगों का परित्याग कर दिया, यद्यपि वे उनकी पूजा करते थे। ।। १०-४२-२४ ।।
