यावदालक्ष्यते केतुर्यावद्रेणू रथस्य च । अनुप्रस्थापितात्मानो लेख्यानीवोपलक्षिताः ।। १०-३९-३६ ।।

sanskrit

Sending their minds after Kṛṣṇa, the gopīs stood as motionless as figures in a painting. They remained there as long as the flag atop the chariot was visible, and even until they could no longer see the dust raised by the chariot wheels. ।। 10-39-36 ।।

english translation

गोपियाँ अपने अपने मन को कृष्ण के साथ भेजकर, किसी चित्र में बनी आकृतियों की भाँति निश्चेष्ट खड़ी रहीं। वे वहाँ तब तक खड़ी रहीं जब तक रथ के ऊपर की पताक दिखती रही और जब तक रथ के पहियों से उठी हुई धूल उन्हें दिखलाई पड़ती रही। ।। १०-३९-३६ ।।

The gopīs then turned back, without hope that Govinda would ever return to them. Full of sorrow, they began to spend their days and nights chanting about the pastimes of their beloved. ।। 10-39-37 ।।

तब गोपियाँ निराश होकर लौट गईं। उन्हें इसकी आशा नहीं रही कि गोविन्द उनके पास कभी लौटेंगे भी। वे शोकाकुल होकर अपने प्रिय की लीलाओं का कीर्तन करती हुईं अपने दिन और रातें बिताने लगीं। ।। १०-३९-३७ ।।

My dear King, the Supreme Lord Kṛṣṇa, traveling as swiftly as the wind in that chariot with Lord Balarāma and Akrūra, arrived at the river Kālindī, which destroys all sins. ।। 10-39-38 ।।

english translation

हे राजन्, भगवान् कृष्ण भगवान् बलराम तथा अक्रूर समेत उस रथ में वायु जैसी तेजी से यात्रा करते हुए सारे पापों को विनष्ट करने वाली कालिन्दी नदी पर पहुँचे। ।। १०-३९-३८ ।।

तत्रोपस्पृश्य पानीयं पीत्वा मृष्टं मणिप्रभम् । वृक्षषण्डमुपव्रज्य सरामो रथमाविशत् ।। १०-३९-३९ ।।

The river’s sweet water was more effulgent than brilliant jewels. After Lord Kṛṣṇa had touched it for purification, He drank some from His hand. Then He had the chariot moved near a grove of trees and climbed back on, along with Balarāma. ।। 10-39-39 ।।

english translation

नदी का मधुर जल चमकीली मणियों से भी अधिक तेजवान था। भगवान् कृष्ण ने शुद्धि के लिए जल से मार्जन किया और हाथ में लेकर आचमन किया। तत्पश्चात् अपने रथ को एक वृक्ष-कुंज के पास मँगाकर बलराम सहित उस पर पुन: सवार हो गये। ।। १०-३९-३९ ।।

अक्रूरस्तावुपामन्त्र्य निवेश्य च रथोपरि । कालिन्द्या ह्रदमागत्य स्नानं विधिवदाचरत् ।। १०-३९-४० ।।

Akrūra asked the two Lords to take Their seats on the chariot. Then, taking Their permission, he went to a pool in the Yamunā and took his bath as enjoined in the scriptures. ।। 10-39-40 ।।

english translation

अक्रूर ने दोनों भाइयों से रथ पर बैठने के लिये कहा। तत्पश्चात् उनसे अनुमति लेकर वे यमुना कुंड में गये और शास्त्रों में निर्दिष्ट विधि के अनुसार स्नान किया। ।। १०-३९-४० ।।
