यावदालक्ष्यते केतुर्यावद्रेणू रथस्य च । अनुप्रस्थापितात्मानो लेख्यानीवोपलक्षिताः ॥ १०-३९-३६ ॥
Sending their minds after Kṛṣṇa, the gopīs stood as motionless as figures in a painting. They remained there as long as the flag atop the chariot was visible, and even until they could no longer see the dust raised by the chariot wheels. ॥ 10-39-36 ॥
english translation
गोपियाँ अपने अपने मन को कृष्ण के साथ भेजकर, किसी चित्र में बनी आकृतियों की भाँति निश्चेष्ट खड़ी रहीं। वे वहाँ तब तक खड़ी रहीं जब तक रथ के ऊपर की पताक दिखती रही और जब तक रथ के पहियों से उठी हुई धूल उन्हें दिखलाई पड़ती रही। ॥ १०-३९-३६ ॥
