तर्हि भग्नगतयः सरितो वै तत्पदाम्बुजरजोऽनिलनीतम् । स्पृहयतीर्वयमिवाबहुपुण्याः प्रेमवेपितभुजाः स्तिमितापः ।। १०-३५-७ ।।

sanskrit

At that time the rivers stop flowing, their water stunned by the ecstasy they feel as they eagerly wait for the wind to bring them the dust of His lotus feet. But like us, the rivers are not very pious, and thus they merely wait with their arms trembling out of love. ।। 10-35-7 ।।

english translation

उस समय नदियाँ बहना बन्द कर देती हैं, उनका जल उस आनन्द से स्तम्भित हो उठता है, जिसे वे उस वायु की उत्सुकतापूर्वक प्रतीक्षा करते हुए अनुभव करती हैं, जो उनके लिए भगवान् के चरणकमलों की धूल लाएगा। किन्तु हमारी ही तरह नदियाँ अधिक पवित्र नहीं हैं, अत: वे प्रेमवश काँपते हुए बाँहों से उनकी प्रतीक्षा करती रहती हैं। ।। १०-३५-७ ।।
