गोप्य ऊचुः भजतोऽनुभजन्त्येक एक एतद्विपर्ययम् । नोभयांश्च भजन्त्येक एतन्नो ब्रूहि साधु भोः ॥ १०-३२-१६ ॥
The gopīs said: Some people reciprocate the affection only of those who are affectionate toward them, while others show affection even to those who are indifferent or inimical. And yet others will not show affection toward anyone. Dear Kṛṣṇa, please properly explain this matter to us. ॥ 10-32-16 ॥

गोपियों ने कहा : कुछ लोग केवल उन्हीं से स्नेह जताते हैं, जो उनके प्रति स्नेहिल होते हैं जबकि अन्य लोग उनके प्रति भी स्नेह दिखाते हैं, जो शत्रुवत् या उदासीन होते हैं। फिर भी कुछ लोग किसी से भी स्नेह नहीं जताते। हे कृष्ण, हमसे इस विषय की समुचित व्याख्या करें। ॥ १०-३२-१६ ॥
