ततोऽविशन् वनं चन्द्रज्योत्स्ना यावद्विभाव्यते । तमः प्रविष्टमालक्ष्य ततो निववृतुः स्त्रियः ॥ १०-३०-४३ ॥
In search of Kṛṣṇa, the gopīs then entered the depths of the forest as far as the light of the moon shone. But when they found themselves engulfed in darkness, they decided to turn back. ॥ 10-30-43 ॥
english translation
तत्पश्चात् गोपियाँ कृष्ण की खोज में जंगल के भीतर उतनी दूर तक गईं जहाँ तक चन्द्रमा की चाँदनी थी। किन्तु जब उन्होंने अपने को अंधकार से घिरता देखा तो उन्होंने लौट आने का निश्चय किया। ॥ १०-३०-४३ ॥
