येऽन्येऽरविन्दाक्ष विमुक्तमानिनस्त्वय्यस्तभावादविशुद्धबुद्धयः । आरुह्य कृच्छ्रेण परं पदं ततः पतन्त्यधोऽनादृतयुष्मदङ्घ्रयः ।। १०-१-३२ ।।

[Someone may say that aside from devotees, who always seek shelter at the Lord’s lotus feet, there are those who are not devotees but who have accepted different processes for attaining salvation. What happens to them? In answer to this question, Lord Brahmā and the other demigods said:] O lotus-eyed Lord, although nondevotees who accept severe austerities and penances to achieve the highest position may think themselves liberated, their intelligence is impure. They fall down from their position of imagined superiority because they have no regard for Your lotus feet. ।। 10-2-32 ।।

english translation

(कोई कह सकता है कि भगवान् के चरणकमलों की शरण खोजने वाले भक्तों के अतिरिक्त भी ऐसे लोग हैं, जो भक्त नहीं हैं किन्तु जिन्होंने मुक्ति प्राप्त करने के लिए भिन्न विधियाँ अपना रखी हैं। तो उनका क्या होता है? इसके उत्तर में ब्रह्माजी तथा अन्य देवता कहते हैं) हे कमलनयन भगवान्, भले ही कठिन तपस्याओं से परम पद प्राप्त करने वाले अभक्तगण अपने को मुक्त हुआ मान लें किन्तु उनकी बुद्धि अशुद्ध रहती है। वे कल्पित श्रेष्ठता के अपने पद से नीचे गिर जाते हैं, क्योंकि उनके मन में आपके चरणकमलों के प्रति कोई श्रद्धाभाव नहीं होता। ।। १०-१-३२ ।।
