नागपत्न्य ऊचुः न्याय्यो हि दण्डः कृतकिल्बिषेऽस्मिंस्तवावतारः खलनिग्रहाय । रिपोः सुतानामपि तुल्यदृष्टेर्धत्से दमं फलमेवानुशंसन् ।। १०-१६-३३ ।।

sanskrit

The wives of the Kāliya serpent said: The punishment this offender has been subjected to is certainly just. After all, You have incarnated within this world to curb down envious and cruel persons. You are so impartial that You look equally upon Your enemies and Your own sons, for when You impose a punishment on a living being You know it to be for his ultimate benefit. ।। 10-16-33 ।।

english translation

कालिय सर्प की पत्नियों ने कहा : इस अपराधी को जो दण्ड मिला है, वह निस्संदेह उचित ही है। आपने इस जगत में ईर्ष्यालु तथा क्रूर पुरुषों का दमन करने के लिए ही अवतार लिया है। आप इतने निष्पक्ष हैं कि आप शत्रुओं तथा अपने पुत्रों को समान भाव से देखते हैं क्योंकि जब आप किसी जीव को दण्ड देते हैं, तो आप यह जानते होते हैं कि अन्तत: यह उसके हित के लिए है। ।। १०-१६-३३ ।।
