यदि दूरं गतः कृष्णो वनशोभेक्षणाय तम् । अहं पूर्वमहं पूर्वमिति संस्पृश्य रेमिरे ।। १०-१२-६ ।।

sanskrit

Sometimes Kṛṣṇa would go to a somewhat distant place to see the beauty of the forest. Then all the other boys would run to accompany Him, each one saying, “I shall be the first to run and touch Kṛṣṇa! I shall touch Kṛṣṇa first!” In this way they enjoyed life by repeatedly touching Kṛṣṇa. ।। 10-12-6 ।।

english translation

कभी कभी कृष्ण जंगल की शोभा देखने के लिए दूर तक निकल जाते। तो सारे बालक उनके साथ जाने के लिए, यह कहते हुए दौते, “दौड़ कर कृष्ण को छूने वाला मैं पहला हूँगा! मैं कृष्ण को सबसे पहले छुऊँगा।” इस तरह वे कृष्ण को बारम्बार छू-छू कर जीवन का आनन्द लेते। ।। १०-१२-६ ।।

केचिद्वेणून् वादयन्तो ध्मान्तः श‍ृङ्गाणि केचन । केचिद्भृङ्गैः प्रगायन्तः कूजन्तः कोकिलैः परे ।। १०-१२-७ ।।

sanskrit

All the boys would be differently engaged. Some boys blew their flutes, and others blew bugles made of horn. Some imitated the buzzing of the bumblebees, and others imitated the voice of the cuckoo. ।। 10-12-7 ।।

english translation

सारे बालक भिन्न भिन्न कार्यों में व्यस्त थे। कुछ अपनी बाँसुरियाँ बजा रहे थे, कुछ सींग का बिगुल बजा रहे थे। कुछ भौरों की गुंजार की नकल तो अन्य बालक कोयल की कुहू कुहू की नकल कर रहे थे। ।। १०-१२-७ ।।

विच्छायाभिः प्रधावन्तो गच्छन्तः साधु हंसकैः । बकैरुपविशन्तश्च नृत्यन्तश्च कलापिभिः ।। १०-१२-८ ।।

Some boys imitated flying birds by running after the birds’ shadows on the ground, some imitated the beautiful movements and attractive postures of the swans, some sat down with the ducks, sitting silently, and others imitated the dancing of the peacocks. ।। 10-12-8 ।।

english translation

कुछ बालक उड़ती चिडिय़ों की भूमि पर पडऩे वाली परछाइयों के पीछे दौड़ कर उनकी नकल कर रहे थे, तो कुछ हंसों की सुन्दर गति तथा उनकी आकर्षक मुद्राओं की नकल उतार रहे थे। कुछ चुपचाप बगुलों के पास बैठ गये और अन्य बालक मोरों के नाच की नकल करने लगे। ।। १०-१२-८ ।।

विकर्षन्तः कीशबालानारोहन्तश्च तैर्द्रुमान् । विकुर्वन्तश्च तैः साकं प्लवन्तश्च पलाशिषु ।। १०-१२-९ ।।

Some boys attracted young monkeys in the trees, some jumped into the trees, imitating the monkeys, some made faces as the monkeys were accustomed to do, and others jumped from one branch to another. ।। 10-12-9 ।।

english translation

कुछ बालकों ने वृक्षों के बन्दरों को आकृष्ट किया, कुछ इन बन्दरों की नकल करतेहुए पेड़ों पर कूदने लगे। कुछ बन्दरों जैसा मुँह बनाने लगे और कुछ एक डाल से दूसरी डाल पर कूदने लगे। ।। १०-१२-९ ।।

साकं भेकैर्विलङ्घन्तः सरित्प्रस्रवसम्प्लुताः । विहसन्तः प्रतिच्छायाः शपन्तश्च प्रतिस्वनान् ।। १०-१२-१० ।।

sanskrit

Some boys went to the waterfalls and crossed over the river, jumping with the frogs, and when they saw their own reflections on the water they would laugh. They would also condemn the sounds of their own echoes. ।। 10-12-10 ।।

english translation

कुछ बालक झरने के पास गये और उन्होंने मेंढक़ों के साथ उछलते हुए नदी पार की और पानी में अपनी परछाईं देख कर वे हँसने लगे। वे अपनी प्रतिध्वनि की आवाज की निन्दा करते। ।। १०-१२-१० ।।
