असतः श्रीमदान्धस्य दारिद्र्यं परमञ्जनम् । आत्मौपम्येन भूतानि दरिद्रः परमीक्षते ।। १०-१०-१३ ।।

sanskrit

Atheistic fools and rascals who are very much proud of wealth fail to see things as they are. Therefore, returning them to poverty is the proper ointment for their eyes so they may see things as they are. At least a poverty-stricken man can realize how painful poverty is, and therefore he will not want others to be in a painful condition like his own. ।। 10-10-13 ।।

english translation

नास्तिक मूर्ख तथा धूर्त धन के मद के कारण वस्तुओं को यथारूप में नहीं देख पाते। अतएव उन्हें दरिद्र बनाना ही सर्वोत्तम काजल है, जिसे वे आँखों में लगा कर वस्तुओं को उनके वास्तविक रूप में देख सकते हैं। और कुछ नहीं तो, जो दरिद्र है, वह इसका तो अनुभव कर ही सकता है कि दरिद्रता कितनी दुखद होती है। अतएव वह कभी नहीं चाहेगा कि अन्य लोग उसकी तरह दुखमय स्थिति में रहें। ।। १०-१०-१३ ।।

asataH zrImadAndhasya dAridryaM paramaJjanam | Atmaupamyena bhUtAni daridraH paramIkSate || 10-10-13 ||
