अथ काल उपावृत्ते देवकी सर्वदेवता । पुत्रान् प्रसुषुवे चाष्टौ कन्यां चैवानुवत्सरम् ॥ १०-१-५६ ॥
Each year thereafter, in due course of time, Devakī, the mother of God and all the demigods, gave birth to a child. Thus she bore eight sons, one after another, and a daughter named Subhadrā. ॥ 10-1-56 ॥

तत्पश्चात् प्रति-वर्ष समय आने पर ईश्वर तथा अन्य देवताओं की माता देवकी ने एक शिशु को जन्म दिया। इस तरह एक के बाद एक उनके आठ पुत्र तथा सुभद्रा नामक एक कन्या उत्पन्न हुई। ॥ १०-१-५६ ॥
