- siva.sh/mahabharat/adi-parva/42/20ततॊ नाम स कन्यायाः पप्रच्छ भृगुनङ्गन वासुके भरणं चास्या न कुर्याम इत्य उवाच ह ॥ १-४२-२० ॥tatò nAma sa kanyAyAH papraccha bhRgunaGgana vAsuke bharaNaM cAsyA na kuryAma itya uvAca ha ॥ 1-42-20 ॥'The sage, after pondering for a moment and noticing that the maiden did not share the same name as him and the issue of her maintenance remained unresolved, questioned Vasuki about the maiden's name. He also explicitly mentioned, "I will not undertake the responsibility of maintaining her."' ॥ 1-42-20 ॥

I am simply listing these here according to their names and characteristics. Now please learn from Me how specific mystic perfections arise from specific meditations and also of the particular processes involved. ॥ 11-15-9 ॥

They call (the part) at the root of the thumb the tirtha sacred to Brahman, that at the root of the (little) finger (the tirtha) sacred to Ka (Pragapati), (that) at the tips (of the fingers, the tirtha) sacred to the gods, and that below (between the index and the thumb, the tirtha) sacred to the manes.

Therefore the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu, must be pleased with me. Without even knowing it, I must have performed some activity satisfying to Him. ॥ 11-8-37 ॥

They are all temporary creations who will be dragged away by time. Therefore how much actual pleasure or happiness could any of them ever give to their wives? ॥ 11-8-36 ॥

Thus You are the Supreme Soul who is realized through yoga, and it is You who are the origin of all mystic power. For my supreme benefit You have explained the procedure for giving up the material world through the process of sannyāsa, or renunciation. ॥ 11-7-14 ॥

You are invincible. You are the illuminating light for all creatures—Aditya, Vibhavasu, and the wondrous elements.' ॥ 1-21-11 ॥
