सु॒सं॒दृक्ते॑ स्वनीक॒ प्रती॑कं॒ वि यद्रु॒क्मो न रोच॑स उपा॒के । दि॒वो न ते॑ तन्य॒तुरे॑ति॒ शुष्म॑श्चि॒त्रो न सूर॒: प्रति॑ चक्षि भा॒नुम् ॥ सुसंदृक्ते स्वनीक प्रतीकं वि यद्रुक्मो न रोचस उपाके । दिवो न ते तन्यतुरेति शुष्मश्चित्रो न सूरः प्रति चक्षि भानुम् ॥
Resplendent Agni, when you shine nigh at hand like gold, your appearance is beautiful; your mightissues like the thunderbolt from the firmament, and like the wonderful sun, you display your lustre.
english translation
यथा॑ व॒: स्वाहा॒ग्नये॒ दाशे॑म॒ परीळा॑भिर्घृ॒तव॑द्भिश्च ह॒व्यैः । तेभि॑र्नो अग्ने॒ अमि॑तै॒र्महो॑भिः श॒तं पू॒र्भिराय॑सीभि॒र्नि पा॑हि ॥ यथा वः स्वाहाग्नये दाशेम परीळाभिर्घृतवद्भिश्च हव्यैः । तेभिर्नो अग्ने अमितैर्महोभिः शतं पूर्भिरायसीभिर्नि पाहि ॥
When we present to you, Agni, the sacred offerings with oblations mixed with butter and milk, thenprotect us with those vast unbounded, innumerable golden cities and metals.

या वा॑ ते॒ सन्ति॑ दा॒शुषे॒ अधृ॑ष्टा॒ गिरो॑ वा॒ याभि॑र्नृ॒वती॑रुरु॒ष्याः । ताभि॑र्नः सूनो सहसो॒ नि पा॑हि॒ स्मत्सू॒रीञ्ज॑रि॒तॄञ्जा॑तवेदः ॥ या वा ते सन्ति दाशुषे अधृष्टा गिरो वा याभिर्नृवतीरुरुष्याः । ताभिर्नः सूनो सहसो नि पाहि स्मत्सूरीञ्जरितॄञ्जातवेदः ॥
Son of strength, Jātavedas, with those unobstructed (splendours) which belong to you, a munificentdonor, and with those praises wherewiḥ you protect people with their posterity, do you protect us yourworshippers and praisers.

निर्यत्पू॒तेव॒ स्वधि॑ति॒: शुचि॒र्गात्स्वया॑ कृ॒पा त॒न्वा॒३॒॑ रोच॑मानः । आ यो मा॒त्रोरु॒शेन्यो॒ जनि॑ष्ट देव॒यज्या॑य सु॒क्रतु॑: पाव॒कः ॥ निर्यत्पूतेव स्वधितिः शुचिर्गात्स्वया कृपा तन्वा रोचमानः । आ यो मात्रोरुशेन्यो जनिष्ट देवयज्याय सुक्रतुः पावकः ॥
When the bright Agni, radiant with his own diffusive lustre, issues (from the touchwood) like asharpened axe; and he who is desirable, the doer of great deeds, the purifier, is born of his two parents; (heappears) for the worship of the gods.

ए॒ता नो॑ अग्ने॒ सौभ॑गा दिदी॒ह्यपि॒ क्रतुं॑ सु॒चेत॑सं वतेम । विश्वा॑ स्तो॒तृभ्यो॑ गृण॒ते च॑ सन्तु यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभि॒: सदा॑ नः ॥ एता नो अग्ने सौभगा दिदीह्यपि क्रतुं सुचेतसं वतेम । विश्वा स्तोतृभ्यो गृणते च सन्तु यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥
Illumine for us, Agni, these auspicious (riches); may we possess (a son) intelligent, the celebrator ofsacred rites; may all (good things) be your praisers, and to him who eulogizes (you); and do you ever cherish uswith blessings.
