मामनिर्जित्य दुर्बुद्धे राक्षसेश्वरपालितां । न शक्यमद्य ते द्रष्टुं पुरीयं वानराधम ॥ ५-३-३६

- 'O evilminded, foolish monkey It is not possible for you to enter the city ruled by Ravana, the king of demons without conquering me.' [5-3-36]

ततः स कपिशार्दूलस्तामुवाच निशाचरीम् । दृष्ट्वा पुरीमिमां भद्रे पुनर्यास्ये यथागतम् ॥ ५-३-३७

The tiger among monkeys said to the, the nightwalker "O noble Lanka I shall see this city and go back". [5-3-37]

ततः कृत्वा महानादं सा वै लङ्का भयावहम् । तलेन वानरश्रेष्ठं ताडयामास वेगिता ॥ ५-३-३८

Then the ogress of Lanka made a loud and frightening sound and struck the most powerful vanara with the palm of her hand. [5-3-38]
