अहो क्षुद्रेण वाऽनेन रक्षन्ती शीलमात्मनः | अबन्धुर्भक्षिता सीता रावणेन तपस्विनी || ५-१३-११

sanskrit

'Oh poor Sita, distanced from relations, while protecting her chastity helplessly she might have been devoured by cruel Ravana. [5-13-11]

english translation

aho kSudreNa vA'nena rakSantI zIlamAtmanaH | abandhurbhakSitA sItA rAvaNena tapasvinI || 5-13-11

hk transliteration

अथवा राक्षसेन्द्रस्य पत्नीभिरसितेक्षणा | अदुष्टा दुष्टभावाभिर्भक्षिता सा भविष्यति || ५-१३-१२

sanskrit

'Or else, the pious, black-eyed Sita might have been eaten by the the cruel natured wives of the lord of demons. [5-13-12]

english translation

athavA rAkSasendrasya patnIbhirasitekSaNA | aduSTA duSTabhAvAbhirbhakSitA sA bhaviSyati || 5-13-12

hk transliteration

सम्पूर्णचन्द्रप्रतिमं पद्मपत्रनिभेक्षणम् | रामस्य ध्यायती वक्त्रं पञ्चत्वं कृपणा गता || ५-१३-१३

'Or, she might have attained death, meditating on Rama, whose face resembles the fullmoon and eyes the lotus petals. [5-13-13]

english translation

sampUrNacandrapratimaM padmapatranibhekSaNam | rAmasya dhyAyatI vaktraM paJcatvaM kRpaNA gatA || 5-13-13

hk transliteration

हा राम लक्ष्मणेत्येवं हाऽयोध्ये चेति मैथिली | विलप्य बहु वैदेही न्यस्तदेहा भविष्यति || ५-१३-१४

sanskrit

'Or, Vaidehi, the princess of Mithila might have cast off her life grieving intensely and crying, 'Alas, Rama, alas, Lakshmana, alas, Ayodhya'. (Mithila is the name of the capital city and Videha is the country which was ruled by Janaka. Sita, the princess is known as Vaidehi, Mythili and Janaki). [5-13-14]

hA rAma lakSmaNetyevaM hA'yodhye ceti maithilI | vilapya bahu vaidehI nyastadehA bhaviSyati || 5-13-14

hk transliteration

अथवा निहिता मन्ये रावणस्य निवेशने | नूनं लालप्यते सीता पञ्जरस्थेव शारिका || ५-१३-१५

sanskrit

'Or, I think Sita might have been imprisoned in a cage like a myna in Ravana's palace. She will be surely crying. [5-13-15]

english translation

athavA nihitA manye rAvaNasya nivezane | nUnaM lAlapyate sItA paJjarastheva zArikA || 5-13-15
