इदं धनुर्वरं राजन् पूजितं सर्वराजभिः । मिथिलाधिप राजेन्द्र दर्शनीयं यदिच्छसि ॥ १-६७-६
- 'Oh ! Indra among kings, Oh ! lord of Mithila here is the great bow, worshipped by all kings, which you intend to show ( to Rama and Lakshamana )'. ॥ 1-67-6॥
english translation
idaM dhanurvaraM rAjan pUjitaM sarvarAjabhiH । mithilAdhipa rAjendra darzanIyaM yadicchasi ॥ 1-67-6
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेषां नृपो वचः श्रुत्वा कृताञ्जलिरभाषत । विश्वामित्रं महात्मानं तावुभौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ॥ १-६७-७
Having heard this, the king with folded hands said to the great soul Vishvamitra and the two princes Rama and Lakshmana ॥ 1-67-7॥

teSAM nRpo vacaH zrutvA kRtAJjalirabhASata । vizvAmitraM mahAtmAnaM tAvubhau rAmalakSmaNau ॥ 1-67-7
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइदं धनुर्वरं ब्रह्मन् जनकैरभिपूजितम् । राजभिश्च महावीर्यैरशक्तैः पूरितं तदा ॥ १-६७-८
- 'Here is that exquisite bow, oh ! Brahman, which is held as a time-honoured bow by the lineage of Janaka kings and even the highly forceful kings who were rendered inefficient to hold it, previously . - ॥ 1-67-8॥
english translation
idaM dhanurvaraM brahman janakairabhipUjitam । rAjabhizca mahAvIryairazaktaiH pUritaM tadA ॥ 1-67-8
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनैतत् सुरगणाः सर्वे सासुरा न च राक्षसाः । गंधर्वयक्षप्रवराः सकिन्नरमहोरगाः ॥ १-६७-९
- Hosts of devatas, asuras, rakhasas, kinnaras and great serpents, the best of gandharvas and yakshas, also failed (to wield this bow). - ॥ 1-67-9॥

naitat suragaNAH sarve sAsurA na ca rAkSasAH । gaMdharvayakSapravarAH sakinnaramahoragAH ॥ 1-67-9
hk transliteration by Sanscriptक्व गतिर्मानुषाणां च धनुषोऽस्य प्रपूरणे । आरोपणे समायोगे वेपने तोलनेऽपि वा ॥ १-६७-१०
- How then can men brace its bowstring to the other end, or twitch the bowstring for its tautness, or place the arrow on bowstring at a proper place for a proper stretchability, or even take a good aim with it. - ॥ 1-67-10॥

kva gatirmAnuSANAM ca dhanuSo'sya prapUraNe । AropaNe samAyoge vepane tolane'pi vA ॥ 1-67-10
