जनकस्य वचः श्रुत्वा विश्वामित्रो महामुनिः | धनुर्दर्शय रामाय इति होवाच पार्थिवम् || १-६७-१

At the words of Janaka, great ascetic Vishvamitra said, 'Oh ! king let the bow be shown to Rama'. [1-67-1]

english translation

janakasya vacaH zrutvA vizvAmitro mahAmuniH | dhanurdarzaya rAmAya iti hovAca pArthivam || 1-67-1

hk transliteration

ततः स राजा जनकः सचिवान् व्यादिदेश ह | धनुरानीयतां दिव्यं गन्धमाल्यानुलेपितम् || १-६७-२

sanskrit

Thereafter king Janaka said to his ministers, 'Let the divine bow adorned with flowers and sandalpaste be brought'. [1-67-2]

english translation

tataH sa rAjA janakaH sacivAn vyAdideza ha | dhanurAnIyatAM divyaM gandhamAlyAnulepitam || 1-67-2

जनकेन समादिष्ठाः सचिवाः प्राविशन् पुरम् | तद्धनुः पुरतः कृत्वा निर्जग्मुरमितौजसः || १-६७-३

sanskrit

Commanded by (king) Janaka, the ministers went to the city, put the bow in front of them and came out of the city. [1-67-3]

english translation

janakena samAdiSThAH sacivAH prAvizan puram | taddhanuH purataH kRtvA nirjagmuramitaujasaH || 1-67-3

नृणां शतानि पंचाशद्व्यायतानां महात्मनाम् | मंजूषामष्टचक्रां तां समूहुस्ते कथंचन || १-६७-४

sanskrit

Five thousand tall men of illimitable energy drew with great difficulty the eightwheeled cart on which the bow was placed in a box. [1-67-4]

english translation

nRNAM zatAni paMcAzadvyAyatAnAM mahAtmanAm | maMjUSAmaSTacakrAM tAM samUhuste kathaMcana || 1-67-4

तामादाय तु मंजूषामायसीं यत्र तद्धनुः | सुरोपमं ते जनकमूचुर्नृपतिमन्त्रिणः || १-६७-५

The counsellors brought the iron casket containing the bow and said these words to Godlike king Janaka: - [1-67-5]

tAmAdAya tu maMjUSAmAyasIM yatra taddhanuH | suropamaM te janakamUcurnRpatimantriNaH || 1-67-5
