अनेन तपसा त्वां हि राजर्षिरिति विद्महे । एवमुक्त्वा महातेजा जगाम सह दैवतैः ॥ १-५७-६
- On account of your austerities, you are acknowledged as a rajarshi'. Saying so that and accompanied by the gods, great resplendent Brahma - [1-57-6]
english translation
त्रिविष्टपं ब्रह्मलोकं लोकानां परमेश्वरः । विश्वामित्रोऽपि तच्छ्रुत्वा ह्रिया किंचिदवाङ्मुखः ॥ १-५७-७
- the Supreme Ruler of the Worlds, went away to his Abode of Brahma, while the gods went to Indra's Heaven. On hearing that Vishvaamitra was down-faced with disgrace. [1-57-7]
english translation
दुःखेन महताविष्टः समन्युरिदमब्रवीत् । तपश्च सुमहत्तप्तं राजर्षिरिति मां विदुः ॥ १-५७-८
While high anguish prevailed over him, he ( Vishvaamitra ) rancorously soliloquied this. 'I have performed intense austerities. Yet I have been recognised only as a rajarshi . - [1-57-8]
english translation
देवाः सर्षिगणाः सर्वे नास्ति मन्ये तपःफलम् । एवं निश्चित्य मनसा भूय एव महातपाः ॥ १-५७-९
- by rishis and devatas. I think my penance hasn't yielded fruit. Having decided in his mind once again, the celebrated intellectual . - [1-57-9]

तपश्चचार काकुत्स्थ परमं परमात्मवान् । एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु सत्यवादी जितेन्द्रियः ॥ १-५७-१०
- self-willed Vishvaamitra performed greater austerities, Oh ! Rama of Kakutstha. At this time there lived a truthful and self restrained . - [1-57-10]
