प्रक्षिप्य प्रहसन् नित्यं मज्जतस्तान् निरीक्ष्य वै । एवं पापसमाचारः सज्जनप्रतिबाधकः ॥ १-३८-२१
- he hurled them. On seeing the drowning children he used to enjoy with laughter. Thus this son inclined towards evil and torturing the good citizens . - ॥ 1-38-21॥

prakSipya prahasan nityaM majjatastAn nirIkSya vai । evaM pApasamAcAraH sajjanapratibAdhakaH ॥ 1-38-21
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपौराणामहिते युक्तः पित्रा निर्वासितः पुरात् । तस्य पुत्रोंऽशुमान्नाम असमंजस्य वीर्यवान् ॥ १-३८-२२
- was banished (of the king) from the capital for his indulgence in malevolent acts. But Asamanja's son was a valorous one, his name was Anshuman. ॥ 1-38-22॥

paurANAmahite yuktaH pitrA nirvAsitaH purAt । tasya putroM'zumAnnAma asamaMjasya vIryavAn ॥ 1-38-22

He was beloved and courteous to every one in the world. After a long time, a thought came to the mind of Sagara . - ॥ 1-38-23॥

sammataH sarvalokasya sarvasyApi priyaMvadaH । tataH kAlena mahatA matiH samabhijAyata ॥ 1-38-23

- that, 'I shall perform a Vedic-ritual.' , Oh ! best one among men, Rama. Having determined to perform a sacrifice, he (Sagara) versed in the Vedas, started the initiatory rites for the sacrifice in the company of high priests. ॥ 1-38-24॥

sagarasya narazreSTha yajeyamiti nizcitA । sa kRtvA nizcayaM rAjA sopAdhyAyagaNastadA । yajJakarmaNi vedajJo yaSTuM samupacakrame ॥ 1-38-24
