इदं शरीरं निस्संज्ञं बन्ध वा खातयस्व वा । नेदं शरीरं रक्षयं मे जीवितं वापि राक्षस ॥ ३-५६-२१
Oh ! demon this body has (now) no consciousness. You may bind it or bury it. I do not think that this body or even this life need to be protected. ॥ 3-56-21॥
english translation
idaM zarIraM nissaMjJaM bandha vA khAtayasva vA । nedaM zarIraM rakSayaM me jIvitaM vApi rAkSasa ॥ 3-56-21
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन तु शक्ष्याम्युपक्रोशं पृथिव्यां दातुमात्मनः । एवमुक्त्वा तु वैदेही क्रोधात्सुपरुषं वचः ॥ ३-५६-२२
But I am intolerant to bear with any disrepute on this earth.' Having uttered these very harsh words out of anger, the daughter of Videha - ॥ 3-56-22॥
english translation
na tu zakSyAmyupakrozaM pRthivyAM dAtumAtmanaH । evamuktvA tu vaidehI krodhAtsuparuSaM vacaH ॥ 3-56-22
hk transliteration by Sanscriptरावणं मैथिली तत्र पुनर्नोवाच किञ्चन । सीताया वचनं श्रुत्वा परुषं रोमहर्षणम् ॥ ३-५६-२३
- the princess from Mithila spoke no more to Ravana. Having heard such harsh, horripilating words from Sita - ॥ 3-56-23॥
english translation
rAvaNaM maithilI tatra punarnovAca kiJcana । sItAyA vacanaM zrutvA paruSaM romaharSaNam ॥ 3-56-23
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रत्युवाच ततस्सीतां भयसन्दर्शनं वचः । शृणु मैथिलि मद्वाक्यं मासान्द्वादश भामिनि ॥ ३-५६-२४
- he ( Ravana ) replied in a way designed to create fear in her 'Oh ! comely princess from Mithila, listen to my words. In the twelve months - ॥ 3-56-24॥

pratyuvAca tatassItAM bhayasandarzanaM vacaH । zRNu maithili madvAkyaM mAsAndvAdaza bhAmini ॥ 3-56-24
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकालेनानेन नाभ्येषि यदि मां चारुहासिनि । ततस्त्वां प्रातराशार्थं सूदाश्छेत्स्यन्ति लेशशः ॥ ३-५६-२५
- course of time, if you do not accept my hand, oh ! lady with a sweet smile ( Sita ) the cooks will cut you off into small bits for the (my) breakfast.' ॥ 3-56-25॥

kAlenAnena nAbhyeSi yadi mAM cAruhAsini । tatastvAM prAtarAzArthaM sUdAzchetsyanti lezazaH ॥ 3-56-25
