ततोऽहं मेघसङ्काशस्तप्तकाञ्चनकुण्डलः । बली दत्तवरोदर्पादाजगाम तदाश्रमम् ॥ ३-३८-१६
Then looking like a dark cloud, wearing bright golden earrings, proud of power bestowed on me with boons, I arrived at the hermitage. [3-38-16]
english translation
तेन दृष्टः प्रविष्टोऽहं सहसैवोद्यतायुधः । मां तु दृष्ट्वा धनुस्सज्यमसम्भ्रान्तश्चकार सः ॥ ३-३८-१७
I entered at once and lifted my weapons. Rama saw me and unperturbed, started stringing his bow. [3-38-17]

अवजानन्नहं मोहाद्बालोऽयमिति राघवम् । विश्वामित्रस्य तां वेदिमभ्यधावं कृतत्वरः ॥ ३-३८-१८
Out of my delusion I underestimated the young boy, and screaming, ran towards Visvamitra's sacrificial altar. [3-38-18]
english translation
तेन मुक्तस्ततो बाणः शितश्शत्रुनिबर्हणः । तेनाहं त्वाहतः क्षिप्तस्समुद्रे शतयोजने ॥ ३-३८-१९
Then Rama released a sharp arrow that could kill the enemy. It struck me and threw me at a distance of hundred yojanas into the sea. [3-38-19]
english translation
नेच्छता तात मां हन्तुं तदा वीरेण रक्षितः । रामस्य शरवेगेन निरस्तोऽहमचेतनः ॥ ३-३८-२०
Oh ! dear being thrown away by the speed of his dart I lost my consciousness. I was protected by Rama who did not want to kill me. [3-38-20]
