स व्यस्तैर्जायते दोषैरिति केचिद्वदन्ति हि | एकादशानामेकस्मिन् सान्निध्यात्तन्त्रयुक्तितः ||६||

Some say that the disease arises due to the simultaneous action of the doshas (bodily humors) in one place, and that this occurs when the eleven symptoms manifest together, brought about by the proper sequence of therapeutic techniques.

It is believed by some that Phthisis (Shosha) is caused by the combined action of the doshas due to the lack of proper regulation in bodily functions, and that it arises when these doshas come together and cause a disturbance, which is termed as a sannipata (the conjunction of all doshas in the body).

The symptoms of the doshas manifest there due to the aggravation caused by the upward movement, which occurs from the action of severe stress, a blow, irregular eating, or exertion. These factors cause the imbalance that leads to the development of Phthisis (Shosha).

The disease arises when the aggravated doshas, particularly Kapha, pervade the body and obstruct the channels of vital fluids (rasa), leading to a condition where the body becomes overwhelmed by the harmful effects of these doshas.

When an individual experiences excessive sexual activity or when the semen is depleted, all the bodily tissues begin to waste away, leading to the drying up (shushkati) of the person’s body.
