दुर्गन्धवदनोच्छ्वासो भिन्नवर्णस्वरो नरः | केषाञ्चिदेवं शोषो हि कारणैर्भेदमागतः ||२६||

A person with a foul-smelling breath, discolored face, and altered voice, exhibiting symptoms such as these, is suffering from phthisis, which has resulted from various underlying causes.

In such a condition, the symptoms of all the doshas are not to be considered in their entirety. It is only the decay (phthisis) that is to be recognized, with each symptom being associated with the specific tissues (dhatus).

The symptoms of phthisis (shosha) are as follows: difficulty in breathing (shvasa), accumulation of mucus (kafa), dryness of the mouth and throat (talushosha), vomiting (chardya), loss of digestive fire (agnisada), excessive thirst, pale complexion (pandu), weakness, and disturbed sleep patterns (nidra). Such a person will experience weakness and suffering, appearing pale and emaciated. They may also show a desire for food but with reduced strength. Their eyes may lose their brightness, and the muscles of the body begin to waste away due to this condition.

In dreams, one may see crows, owls, vultures, jackals, and similarly monkeys, crows, and wolves. They move around like rivers, and one may see withered trees, dust, and smoke caused by the wind.
