एक एवेश्वरस्तस्मिन् सुरकार्ये सुरेश्वरः । विहर्तुकामस्तानाह समुद्रोन्मथनादिभिः ॥ ८-६-१७ ॥

Although the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the master of the demigods, was capable of performing the activities of the demigods by Himself, He wanted to enjoy pastimes in churning the ocean. Therefore He spoke as follows. ।‌। 8-6-17 ॥

english translation

यद्यपि देवताओं के स्वामी भगवान् देवताओं के कार्यकलापों को स्वयं सम्पन्न करने में समर्थ थे फिर भी उन्होंने समुद्र-मन्थन की लीला का आनन्द उठाना चाहा। अतएव वे इस प्रकार बोले। ।‌। ८-६-१७ ॥
