आसीदतीतकल्पान्ते ब्राह्मो नैमित्तिको लयः । समुद्रोपप्लुतास्तत्र लोका भूरादयो नृप ॥ ८-२४-७ ॥
O King Parīkṣit, at the end of the past millennium, at the end of Brahmā’s day, because Lord Brahmā sleeps during the night, annihilation took place, and the three worlds were covered by the water of the ocean. ॥ 8-24-7 ॥
english translation
हे राजा परीक्षित! विगत कल्प के अन्त में, ब्रह्मा का दिन समाप्त होने पर ब्रह्मा की निद्रा के कारण रात में प्रलय आ गई और तीनों लोक समुद्र के जल से प्लवित हो गये। ॥ ८-२४-७ ॥
