पदानि त्रीणि दत्तानि भूमेर्मह्यं त्वयासुर । द्वाभ्यां क्रान्ता मही सर्वा तृतीयमुपकल्पय ।। ८-२१-२९ ।।

sanskrit

O King of the demons, you have promised to give Me three steps of land, but I have occupied the entire universe with two steps. Now think about where I should put My third. ।। 8-21-29 ।‌।

english translation

हे असुरराज! तुमने मुझे तीन पग भूमि देने का वचन दिया है, किन्तु मैंने तो दो ही पग में सारा ब्रह्माण्ड घेर लिया है। अब बताओ कि मैं अपना तीसरा पग कहाँ रखूँ? ।। ८-२१-२९ ।।
