मनुः स्यन्दनमास्थाय शातकौम्भपरिच्छदम् । आरोप्य स्वां दुहितरं सभार्यः पर्यटन् महीम् ।। ३-२१-३६ ।।

sanskrit

Svāyambhuva Manu, with his wife, mounted his chariot, which was decorated with golden ornaments. Placing his daughter on it with them, he began traveling all over the earth. ।। 3-21-36 ।।

english translation

स्वायंभुव मनु अपनी पत्नी सहित स्वर्णाभूषणों से सुसज्जित अपने रथ पर आरूढ़ हुए। अपनी पुत्री को भी उस पर चढ़ाकर वे समस्त भूमण्डल का भ्रमण करने लगे। ।। ३-२१-३६ ।।

तस्मिन् सुधन्वन्नहनि भगवान् यत्समादिशत् । उपायादाश्रमपदं मुनेः शान्तव्रतस्य तत् ।। ३-२१-३७ ।।

sanskrit

O Vidura, they reached the hermitage of the sage, who had just completed his vows of austerity on the very day foretold by the Lord. ।। 3-21-37 ।।

english translation

हे विदुर, वे मुनि की कुटी में पहुँचे, जिसने अपनी तपस्या का व्रत भगवान् द्वारा पहले से बताये गये दिन ही समाप्त किया था। ।। ३-२१-३७ ।।

tasmin sudhanvannahani bhagavAn yatsamAdizat | upAyAdAzramapadaM muneH zAntavratasya tat || 3-21-37 ||

यस्मिन् भगवतो नेत्रान्न्यपतन्नश्रुबिन्दवः । कृपया सम्परीतस्य प्रपन्नेऽर्पितया भृशम् ।। ३-२१-३८ ।।

sanskrit

It was called Bindu-sarovara because drops of tears had fallen there from the eyes of the Lord, who was overwhelmed by extreme compassion for the sage who had sought His protection. ।। 3-21-38 ।।

english translation

यह बिन्दु सरोवर कहलाता था, क्योंकि यहीं पर, जब भगवान् शरणागत ऋषि पर दयार्द्र हो उठे थे, उनके नेत्रों से आँसुओं की बूँदें गिरी थीं। ।। ३-२१-३८ ।।

तद्वै बिन्दुसरो नाम सरस्वत्या परिप्लुतम् । पुण्यं शिवामृतजलं महर्षिगणसेवितम् ।। ३-२१-३९ ।।

sanskrit

The holy Lake Bindu-sarovara, flooded by the waters of the river Sarasvatī, was resorted to by hosts of eminent sages. Its holy water was not only auspicious but as sweet as nectar. ।। 3-21-39 ।।

english translation

सरस्वती नदी के बाढ़-जल से भरने वाले पवित्र बिन्दु सरोवर का सेवन ऋषियों का समूह करता था। इसका पवित्र जल न केवल कल्याणकारी था वरन् अमृत के समान मीठा भी था। ।। ३-२१-३९ ।।

पुण्यद्रुमलताजालैः कूजत्पुण्यमृगद्विजैः । सर्वर्तुफलपुष्पाढ्यं वनराजिश्रियान्वितम् ।। ३-२१-४० ।।

sanskrit

The shore of the lake was surrounded by clusters of pious trees and creepers, rich in fruits and flowers of all seasons, that afforded shelter to pious animals and birds, which uttered various cries. It was adorned by the beauty of groves of forest trees. ।। 3-21-40 ।।

english translation

सरोवर के तट पवित्र वृक्षों तथा लताओं के समूहों से घिरे थे, जो सभी ऋतुओं में फलों तथा फूलों से लदे रहते थे और जिनमें पवित्र पशु तथा पक्षी अपना-अपना बसेरा बनाते थे और विविध प्रकार से कूजन करते थे। यह स्थान वृक्षों के कुंजों की शोभा से विभूषित था। ।। ३-२१-४० ।।
