श्रीभगवानुवाच अथ ते सम्प्रवक्ष्यामि तत्त्वानां लक्षणं पृथक् । यद्विदित्वा विमुच्येत पुरुषः प्राकृतैर्गुणैः ॥ ३-२६-१ ॥
The Personality of Godhead, Kapila, continued: My dear mother, now I shall describe unto you the different categories of the Absolute Truth, knowing which any person can be released from the influence of the modes of material nature. ॥ 3-26-1 ॥
english translation
भगवान् कपिल ने आगे कहा : हे माता, अब मैं तुमसे परम सत्य की विभिन्न कोटियों का वर्णन करूँगा जिनके जान लेने से कोई भी पुरुष प्रकृति के गुणों के प्रभाव से मुक्त हो सकता है। ॥ ३-२६-१ ॥

ज्ञानं निःश्रेयसार्थाय पुरुषस्यात्मदर्शनम् । यदाहुर्वर्णये तत्ते हृदयग्रन्थिभेदनम् ॥ ३-२६-२ ॥
Knowledge is the ultimate perfection of self-realization. I shall explain that knowledge unto you by which the knots of attachment to the material world are cut. ॥ 3-26-2 ॥

आत्म-साक्षात्कार की चरम सिद्धि ज्ञान है। मैं तुमको वह ज्ञान बतलाऊँगा जिससे भौतिक संसार के प्रति आसक्ति की ग्रन्थियाँ कट जाती हैं। ॥ ३-२६-२ ॥

अनादिरात्मा पुरुषो निर्गुणः प्रकृतेः परः । प्रत्यग्धामा स्वयञ्ज्योतिर्विश्वं येन समन्वितम् ॥ ३-२६-३ ॥
The Supreme Personality of Godhead is the Supreme Soul, and He has no beginning. He is transcendental to the material modes of nature and beyond the existence of this material world. He is perceivable everywhere because He is self-effulgent, and by His self-effulgent luster the entire creation is maintained. ॥ 3-26-3 ॥
english translation
पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् परमात्मा हैं और उनका आदि नहीं है। वे प्रकृति के गुणों से परे और इस भौतिक जगत के अस्तित्व के परे हैं। वे सर्वत्र दिखाई पडऩे वाले हैं, क्योंकि वे स्वयं प्रकाशवान हैं और उनकी स्वयं प्रकाशवान कान्ति से सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि का पालन होता है। ॥ ३-२६-३ ॥

स एष प्रकृतिं सूक्ष्मां दैवीं गुणमयीं विभुः । यदृच्छयैवोपगतामभ्यपद्यत लीलया ॥ ३-२६-४ ॥
As His pastime, that Supreme Personality of Godhead, the greatest of the great, accepted the subtle material energy, which is invested with three material modes of nature and which is related with Viṣṇu. ॥ 3-26-4 ॥
english translation
उस महान् से महानतम् श्रीभगवान् ने सूक्ष्म भौतिक शक्ति को अपनी लीला के रूप में स्वीकार किया जो त्रिगुणमयी है और विष्णु से सम्बन्धित है। ॥ ३-२६-४ ॥

गुणैर्विचित्राः सृजतीं सरूपाः प्रकृतिं प्रजाः । विलोक्य मुमुहे सद्यः स इह ज्ञानगूहया ॥ ३-२६-५ ॥
Divided into varieties by her threefold modes, material nature creates the forms of the living entities, and the living entities, seeing this, are illusioned by the knowledge-covering feature of the illusory energy. ॥ 3-26-5 ॥

अपने तीन गुणों से अनेक प्रकारों में विभक्त यह भौतिक प्रकृति जीवों के स्वरूपों को उत्पन्न करती है और इसे देखकर सारे जीव माया के ज्ञान-आच्छादक गुण से मोहग्रस्त हो जाते हैं। ॥ ३-२६-५ ॥
