सद्वितीयाः किमसृजन् स्वतन्त्रा उत कर्मसु । आहोस्वित्संहताः सर्व इदं स्म समकल्पयन् ।। ३-२०-११ ।।

sanskrit

Did they evolve the creation in conjunction with their respective wives, did they remain independent in their action, or did they all jointly produce it? ।। 3-20-11 ।।

english translation

क्या उन्होंने इस जगत की सृष्टि अपनी-अपनी पत्नियों के सहयोग से की अथवा वे स्वतन्त्र रूप से अपना कार्य करते रहे? या कि उन्होंने संयुक्त रूप से इसकी रचना की? ।। ३-२०-११ ।।

मैत्रेय उवाच दैवेन दुर्वितर्क्येण परेणानिमिषेण च । जातक्षोभाद्भगवतो महानासीद्गुणत्रयात् ।। ३-२०-१२ ।।

sanskrit

Maitreya said: When the equilibrium of the combination of the three modes of nature was agitated by the unseen activity of the living entity, by Mahā-Viṣṇu and by the force of time, the total material elements were produced. ।। 3-20-12 ।।

english translation

मैत्रेय ने कहा—जब प्रकृति के तीन तत्त्वों के सहयोग का सन्तुलन जीवात्मा की अदृश्य क्रियाशीलता, महाविष्णु तथा कालशक्ति के द्वारा विक्षुब्ध हुआ तो समग्र भौतिक तत्त्व (महत्-तत्त्व) उत्पन्न हुए। ।। ३-२०-१२ ।।

रजःप्रधानान् महतस्त्रिलिङ्गो दैवचोदितात् । जातः ससर्ज भूतादिर्वियदादीनि पञ्चशः ।। ३-२०-१३ ।।

sanskrit

As impelled by the destiny of the jīva, the false ego, which is of three kinds, evolved from the mahat-tattva, in which the element of rajas predominates. From the ego, in turn, evolved many groups of five principles. ।। 3-20-13 ।।

english translation

जीव के भाग्य (दैव) की प्रेरणा से रजोगुण प्रधान महत्-तत्त्व से तीन प्रकार का अहंकार उत्पन्न हुआ। फिर अंहकार से पाँच-पाँच तत्त्वों के अनेक समूह उत्पन्न हुए। ।। ३-२०-१३ ।।

तानि चैकैकशः स्रष्टुमसमर्थानि भौतिकम् । संहत्य दैवयोगेन हैममण्डमवासृजन् ।। ३-२०-१४ ।।

Separately unable to produce the material universe, they combined with the help of the energy of the Supreme Lord and were able to produce a shining egg. ।। 3-20-14 ।।

english translation

अलग-अलग रहकर ब्रह्माण्ड की रचना करने में असमर्थ होने के कारण वे परमेश्वर की शक्ति के सहयोग से संगठित हुए और फिर एक चमकीले अण्डे का सृजन करने में सक्षम छुए। ।। ३-२०-१४ ।।

सोऽशयिष्टाब्धिसलिले आण्डकोशो निरात्मकः । साग्रं वै वर्षसाहस्रमन्ववात्सीत्तमीश्वरः‌ ।। ३-२०-१५ ।।

For over one thousand years the shiny egg lay on the waters of the Causal Ocean in the lifeless state. Then the Lord entered it as Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu. ।। 3-20-15 ।।

english translation

यह चमकीला अण्डा एक हजार वर्षों से भी अधिक काल तक अचेतन अवस्था में कारणार्णव के जल में पड़ा रहा। तब भगवान् ने इसके भीतर गर्भोदकशायी विष्णु के रूप में प्रवेश किया। ।। ३-२०-१५ ।।
