मैत्रेय उवाच दैवेन दुर्वितर्क्येण परेणानिमिषेण च । जातक्षोभाद्भगवतो महानासीद्गुणत्रयात् ॥ ३-२०-१२ ॥

Maitreya said: When the equilibrium of the combination of the three modes of nature was agitated by the unseen activity of the living entity, by Mahā-Viṣṇu and by the force of time, the total material elements were produced. ॥ 3-20-12 ॥

english translation

मैत्रेय ने कहा—जब प्रकृति के तीन तत्त्वों के सहयोग का सन्तुलन जीवात्मा की अदृश्य क्रियाशीलता, महाविष्णु तथा कालशक्ति के द्वारा विक्षुब्ध हुआ तो समग्र भौतिक तत्त्व (महत्-तत्त्व) उत्पन्न हुए। ॥ ३-२०-१२ ॥
