मज्जायाः पङ्क्तिरुत्पन्ना बृहती प्राणतोऽभवत् । स्पर्शस्तस्याभवज्जीवः स्वरो देह उदाहृतः ।। ३-१२-४६ ।।

sanskrit

The art of writing verse, paṅkti, became manifested from the bone marrow, and that of bṛhatī, another type of verse, was generated from the life-breath of the lord of the living entities. Brahmā’s soul was manifested as the touch alphabets, his body as the vowels ।। 3-12-46 ।।

english translation

पंक्ति श्लोक लिखने की कला का उदय अस्थिमज्जा से हुआ और एक अन्य श्लोक बृहती लिखने की कला जीवों के स्वामी के प्राण से उत्पन्न हुई। ब्रह्मा की आत्मा स्पर्श अक्षरों के रूप में, उनका शरीर स्वरों के रूप में ।। ३-१२-४६ ।।

ऊष्माणमिन्द्रियाण्याहुरन्तःस्था बलमात्मनः । स्वराः सप्तविहारेण भवन्ति स्म प्रजापतेः ।। ३-१२-४७ ।।

sanskrit

Brahmā’s senses as the sibilant alphabets, his strength as the intermediate alphabets and his sensual activities as the seven notes of music. ।। 3-12-47 ।।

english translation

ब्रह्मा इन्द्रियाँ ऊष्म अक्षरों के रूप में, उनका बल अन्त:स्थ अक्षरों के रूप में और उनके ऐन्द्रिय कार्यकलाप संगीत के सप्त स्वरों के रूप में प्रकट हुए। ।। ३-१२-४७ ।।

शब्दब्रह्मात्मनस्तस्य व्यक्ताव्यक्तात्मनः परः । ब्रह्मावभाति विततो नानाशक्त्युपबृंहितः ।। ३-१२-४८ ।।

sanskrit

Brahmā is the personal representation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead as the source of transcendental sound and is therefore above the conception of manifested and unmanifested. Brahmā is the complete form of the Absolute Truth and is invested with multifarious energies. ।। 3-12-48 ।।

english translation

ब्रह्मा दिव्य ध्वनि के रूप में भगवान् के साकार स्वरूप हैं, अतएव वे व्यक्त तथा अव्यक्त की धारणा से परे हैं। ब्रह्मा परम सत्य के पूर्ण रूप हैं और नानाविध शक्तियों से समन्वित हैं। ।। ३-१२-४८ ।।

zabdabrahmAtmanastasya vyaktAvyaktAtmanaH paraH | brahmAvabhAti vitato nAnAzaktyupabRMhitaH || 3-12-48 ||

ततोऽपरामुपादाय स सर्गाय मनो दधे । ऋषीणां भूरिवीर्याणामपि सर्गमविस्तृतम् ।। ३-१२-४९ ।।

sanskrit

When Brahmā saw that in spite of the presence of sages of great potency there was no sufficient increase in population, Thereafter Brahmā accepted another body, in which sex life was not forbidden, and thus he engaged himself in the matter of further creation. ।। 3-12-49 ।।

english translation

जब ब्रह्मा ने देखा कि अत्यन्त वीर्यवान ऋषियों के होते हुए भी जनसंख्या में पर्याप्त वृद्धि नहीं हुई तत्पश्चात् ब्रह्मा ने दूसरा शरीर धारण किया जिसमें यौन जीवन निषिद्ध नहीं था और इस तरह वे आगे सृष्टि के कार्य में लग गये। ।। ३-१२-४९ ।।

ज्ञात्वा तद्धृदये भूयश्चिन्तयामास कौरव । अहो अद्भुतमेतन्मे व्यापृतस्यापि नित्यदा ।। ३-१२-५० ।।

sanskrit

O son of the Kurus, Brahmā seriously began to consider how the population could be increased. Alas, it is wonderful that in spite of my being scattered all over, there is still insufficient population throughout the universe. ।। 3-12-50 ।।

english translation

हे कुरुपुत्र, ब्रह्मा गम्भीरतापूर्वक विचार करने लगे कि जनसंख्या किस तरह बढ़ायी जाय। हाय! यह विचित्र बात है कि मेरे सर्वत्र फैले हुए रहने पर भी ब्रह्माण्ड भर में जन-संख्या अब भी अपर्याप्त है। ।। ३-१२-५० ।।
