अहो बतात्यद्भुतमेष रक्षसा बालो निवृत्तिं गमितोऽभ्यगात्पुनः । हिंस्रः स्वपापेन विहिंसितः खलः साधुः समत्वेन भयाद्विमुच्यते ।। १०-७-३१ ।।

sanskrit

It is most astonishing that although this innocent child was taken away by the Rākṣasa to be eaten, He has returned without having been killed or even injured. Because this demon was envious, cruel and sinful, he has been killed for his own sinful activities. This is the law of nature. An innocent devotee is always protected by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and a sinful person is always vanquished for his sinful life. ।। 10-7-31 ।।

english translation

यह सबसे अधिक आश्चर्य की बात है कि यह अबोध बालक इस राक्षस द्वारा खाये जाने के लिए दूर ले जाया जाकर भी बिना मारे या चोट खाये वापस लौट आया। चूँकि राक्षस ईर्ष्यालु, क्रूर तथा पापी था, इसलिए वह अपने पापपूर्ण कृत्यों के लिए मारा गया। यही प्रकृति का नियम है। निर्दोष भक्त की रक्षा सदैव भगवान् द्वारा की जाती है और पापी व्यक्ति को अपने पापमय जीवन के लिए दण्ड दिया जाता है। ।। १०-७-३१ ।।

किं नस्तपश्चीर्णमधोक्षजार्चनं पूर्तेष्टदत्तमुत भूतसौहृदम् । यत्सम्परेतः पुनरेव बालको दिष्ट्या स्वबन्धून् प्रणयन्नुपस्थितः ।। १०-७-३२ ।।

Nanda Mahārāja and the others said: We must previously have performed austerities for a very long time, worshiped the Supreme Personality of Godhead, performed pious activities for public life, constructing public roads and wells, and also given charity, as a result of which this boy, although faced with death, has returned to give happiness to His relatives. ।। 10-7-32 ।।

english translation

नन्द महाराज तथा अन्य लोगों ने कहा : हमने अवश्य ही पूर्वजन्म में दीर्घकाल तक तपस्या की होगी, भगवान् की पूजा की होगी, जनता के लिए सडक़ें तथा कुएँ बनवाकर पुण्य कर्म किये होंगे और दान भी दिया होगा जिसके फलस्वरूप मृत्यु के मुख में गया हुआ यह बालक अपने सम्बन्धियों को आनन्द प्रदान करने के लिए लौट आया है। ।। १०-७-३२ ।।

दृष्ट्वाद्भुतानि बहुशो नन्दगोपो बृहद्वने । वसुदेववचो भूयो मानयामास विस्मितः ।। १०-७-३३ ।।

Having seen all these incidents in Bṛhadvana, Nanda Mahārāja became more and more astonished, and he remembered the words spoken to him by Vasudeva in Mathurā. ।। 10-7-33 ।।

english translation

बृहद्वन में इन सारी घटनाओं को देखकर नन्द महाराज अधिकाधिक आश्चर्यचकित हुए और उन्हें वसुदेव के वे शब्द स्मरण हो आये जो उन्होंने मथुरा में कहे थे। ।। १०-७-३३ ।।

एकदार्भकमादाय स्वाङ्कमारोप्य भामिनी । प्रस्नुतं पाययामास स्तनं स्नेहपरिप्लुता ।। १०-७-३४ ।।

One day mother Yaśodā, having taken Kṛṣṇa up and placed Him on her lap, was feeding Him milk from her breast with maternal affection. The milk was flowing from her breast, and the child was drinking it. ।। 10-7-34 ।।

english translation

एक दिन माता यशोदा कृष्ण को अपनी गोद में बैठाकर उन्हें मातृ-स्नेह के कारण अपने स्तन से दूध पिला रही थीं। दूध उनके स्तन से चू रहा था और बालक उसे पी रहा था। ।। १०-७-३४ ।।

पीतप्रायस्य जननी सा तस्य रुचिरस्मितम् । मुखं लालयती राजञ्जृम्भतो ददृशे इदम् ।। १०-७-३५ ।।

O King Parīkṣit, when the child Kṛṣṇa was almost finished drinking His mother’s milk and mother Yaśodā was touching Him and looking at His beautiful, brilliantly smiling face, the baby yawned, and mother Yaśodā saw ।। 10-7-35 ।।

english translation

हे राजा परीक्षित, जब बालक कृष्ण अपनी माता का दूध पीना लगभग बन्द कर चुके थे और माता यशोदा उनके सुन्दर कान्तिमान हँसते मुख को छू रही थीं और निहार रही थीं तो बालक ने जम्हाई ली और माता यशोदा ने देखा ।। १०-७-३५ ।।
